Opposite the FAM field in SS5, there is this corner mamak cum coffeeshop. This restaurant is not your usual mamak, as it has some coffeeshop style to it. The mamak provides drinks and mixed rice, and they lease out spaces for other food stalls as well just like the standard chinese coffeeshop style, except that this has Halal only food.I ordered the Teh O Ais, which is iced tea without milk. It had a nice aroma of tea, and the best thing is it is only mildly sweet, unlike how most mamak make theirs. The mixed rice has many selections, including at least 4 different types of curry ranging from chicken, fish, mutton and beef. It also has fried chicken and fish as well. They have a few staffs manned there so you just need to pick whichever you want and they will place it on to your place of rice.I chose the kurma chicken drumstick, a deep fried fish, long beans and some chilli to go with the rice. The chicken was very well cooked, as it was tender and soft, flavourful with the kurma gravy. There were no blood whatsoever inside the deeper part of the drumstick. The chilli goes very well with the deep fried fish. The chilli is quite spicy, complimenting the slighly salted fish. The fish was a little too bony for my liking. There were no fishy smell, which shows that the fish is quite fresh. All in all, a good place for a quick and simple lunch. As I took 2 different types of meat, the mixed rice comes to RM10, and 2 cups of Teh O Ais makes it a total of RM13. continue reading
