Oh dear, sometimes I make really poor choices. This is one of them. The smoked turkey pizza at Prego. The smoked turkey was perfectly salty - not too much, not too little; but was a little bit on the dry side. Quantity was not enough to cover the extremely dry pizza. It's supposed to have smoked turkey, asparagus, pesto and goat’s cheese; but there was not even a hint of noticeable cheese of any sort and slight coloring of pesto which I couldn't even taste. Pizza base was thin and crispy as usual but, again, so what if there's no flavour or moisture in most of the other ingredients.

Look at it - it even looks like it's some kind of disaster pizza that an amateur kitchen helper would create in a B-grade cafe.

Basically it was a thin crust pizza with caramelised onions, anchovy and black olives. Anchovy in Italian restaurant is somewhat interesting. I am not a fan of black olives but a little wouldn't do me much harm. Being wood baked, the crust smelled smokier due to the slight burn. I like the crispiness but the texture could be lighter. The olives wasn't too overpowering while the tomato base was just about the right sweetness. On and off I got some surprises from the anchovies and that was what I

More anchovies and olives would be better!

The complimentary bread was crispy in the outside, soft and fluffy in the inside. So make sure you eat it while it is warm! The sauce was tomato-ish with herbs which I couldn't tell but it went pretty well with the bread (only when you are a mild person or when the mood strikes
) Sometimes I like it with vinegar and oil, which you could easily access.

Scallop is my recent new love. Whenever I see scallop on the menu, I would be excited. "Pan Seared Scallop, Cauliflower Two Ways, Gremolata Dressing" did sound very interesting. What was gremolata dressing? Gremolata (or gremolada) is a simple Italian garnish made of minced parsley, lemon zest and garlic. It tasted light and refreshing indeed. It seemed oily but it wasn't. However, I did not quite like my scallop being mild. That is just me. The scallop was fresh though.

To begin our meal, we ordered "Pan-Fried Scallops, Cauliflower Two Ways, Gremolata Dressing". Expectation: 5-6 scallops (or 3-4 giant scallops), 6 florets of cauliflower (3 per "way"). Reality: 3 little scallops, a handful of rocket (which seems more than the rest of the dish, and also feels out of place in terms of flavour), and really tiny "leftovers" of cauliflower (try spotting it in the picture!). Scallops were done perfectly, what little cauliflower cauliflower we got was good, and the sau

Scallops were done perfectly, what little cauliflower cauliflower we got was good, and the sauce was creamy but not aromatic enough. Bitterness from rocket seemed out of place - would've been better with buttered spinach, or wilted rocket. I think what upset me most is that the description seemed grand, and the price tag indicated that it would be a little bigger, priced at RM44!

The whole purpose of the visit was just to have a pizza anyway, so we ordered a really basic and simple pizza. Caramelized onion, Anchovies and black olives. The sweetness from the onions was only shadowed by the intense sweetness from the olives (which were also caramelized). Two different types of sweetness was just about enough to balance the really intense saltiness from the anchovies (these are not your typical nasi lemak variety). The anchovies were soft and fish-like (as they should be) and was plentiful. Pizza based is crispy and thin, but a little to the dry side since it's wood-fired in a stone oven. This pleased me with a much more attractive price of RM32 only.

Frutti di Mare @ RM66, which means fresh seafood with tangy tomato sauce pasta. This is not bad, although from the picture it looks that it doesn't have much ingredients, but it's actually enough for I and my gf.

Verdict: Above average

I like Italian crusine, partly because I enjoy eating the bread before the actual meal starts. At Prego, we are being served a huge bun, that comes with salsa sauce. For the main, I have the Spaghetti. the tomato-based spaghetti is cooked with lots of tomato chunks and eggplant cubes too, and it matches very well with pecorino romano cheese.

My favourite dish is the squid ink Risotto, ordered by my hubby. The salty seafood flavour is so rich, topped with parmigiano cheese, it's very satisfying! Good taste!

To end the lunch, we had Cannoli siciliani as dessert. It tastes ok though it might not be my favourite. The filling inside the crunchy bits is actually ricotta cream cheese, what a surprise!
