The mains are pretty interesting, there is a fusion range of western and local delights. The rice ranges are creatively amazing and mesmerizing. Simple dishes like nasi lemak can surprisingly be made to serve beautifully and presentably. The Nasi goreng kampung served with keropok, telur mata kerbau and sambal belancan and selling at RM 16 continue reading

This salted caramel brownie sells at RM 14, slightly over priced for a simple brownie like this. Comparing this to the peanut butter slice, this one is least flavourful. Also due to the icy cold from the ice cream, the taste of caramel becomes mellow. Good for sharing. continue reading

Gaining all the reputation from being the master chef Malaysia season 1, celebrity chef Nik, hence the name of the restaurant pick-nick compiles a mix of talent and home recipes; and offers a great mix of dishes from local authentic Malay cuisine to the diversity of western bites and pastas. The pastry chef here is someone great. The amazing Azlina doing her thing with the peanut butter cream cheese has definitely got me hooked to this place for sure. This peanut butter slice sells at RM 10 ad the peanut butter is so thick and delicious. continue reading

We arrived at just about the same time and got a tad lost because we didn’t know where PickNik was located exactly. It’s probably more difficult for patrons new to the Publika establishment (like me) to locate this cafe off-hand.But after making a quick phone call to PickNik, we landed ourselves there in no time! They chose this restaurant as Chef Nik Michael Imran is the mastermind behind it.If that name doesn’t ring a bell, he’s one of the finalists from MasterChef Malaysia Season 1, and has since opened his own outlet!Without waiting long, the dishes began arriving our table consecutively. We ordered lots of tapas for sharing! Here’s what we had for the nighteep Fried Squid. Battered squid fried to golden brown served with wasabi mayo. Yum!Sauteed Mushrooms. Button mushrooms sauteed in butter and herb. Yum!Nachos. Tortilla chips served in guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos and minced beef tomato salsa. It was delicious, with a good variety of toppings/sauces. But the portion of tortilla chips was ridiculously meagre. In the end, we were left with lots of toppings with nothing to dip it with.Soft Shell Crab deep fried with wasabi mayo.Papardelle Bolognese. Authentic beefy italianThis was very flavourful but EXTREMELY SPICY! Caution! Do not be caught unaware.Peanut butter slice: Peanut butter with cream cheese on a biscuit crustThis was heavenly! I chomped it down like a voracious glutton.I was a very delighted girl that night.Picknik was a great choice, which set an evening like this perfectly. continue reading

It would be great to end our meals with some desserts too. The plates of sweet bites to indulge is something not to be missed in Picknik. We had three of the delicious signature desserts in our plate in petite version.Peanut Butter Slice with Nuts is simply a delights not to be missed with the peanut butter and cream cheese on a biscuit crust. Served with chocolate sauce. But really, all you need to know is this dish has peanut butter! This is sinfully delicious and it is just melts in my mouth easily with the sweet peanut butter with it.Price: RM 8.00Peach Apple Cobble is is the sorta like a pie but without the lower crust. Definitely a dessert but without all the fuss at all. The Peach Apple Cobble is is simply lovely and good where every bites of it, you may taste the fresh ingredients in it.Price: RM7; with vanilla ice cream RM9Salted Caramel Brownie is a heavenly and I am just falling in love with the it as well as the caramel is well blend with the brownies creating a sweet and salty match which is just wonderful.Price: RM12 continue reading
