I have been told that this restaurant gets its ingredients trucked down from Penang on a daily basis, to ensure that their food is completely the same as what you can find in Penang. I find it hard to argue when the quality is this good. The curry is fragrant and light, with plenty of fresh ingredients, including pig's blood, which is getting rare these days.

The people in Penang One boast that their ingredients are all fully imported from Penang, EVERYDAY. And this is no exception for the mua chi flour and sugared crushed peanuts. The texture of the mua chi is very soft, moist and tender without the stuck-in-your-teeth part, a part which I'm thankful for. The peanuts were nicely roasted and smelt good too. I would love it to be sweeter though as the sugar is not enough.

One of the Penang famous street food is Duck meat kueh teow soup. I remember grandma always bring me to the pasar hawker stall to eat when i was young in penang. The presentation of the kueh teow soup looks exactly similar to the one in Penang. The duck meat is just that tiny and thin sliced on top. Surprise to see some ''duck blood cake'' inside too, luckily is just tiny sliced. The duck blood is tasteless and texture like jelly. The chee cheong fun here doesn't looks that tempting compared to the one i ate in Penang. However, they uses the black sauce that is quite similar and i feel the sauce is not enough for the whole plate of cheong fun. I like the generous sesame seeds on top, very aromatic when bitten it. I forgotten the exact price but i remember it is quite pricey for this portion of cheong cheong fun.

Penang One has recently open an outlet at Kota Damansara. I was attracted by their decorations with all the penang famous street food pictures and streets name as their wallpaper. Quite disappointed with their coffee cham. Although the coffee taste is quite thick but is just too bitter. The drink is very rough to swallow and i left almost two quarter unfinished.

They also have the Penang style of Chee Cheong Fan which is being served with the sweet sauce as well as shrimp paste. Well rolled with the smooth rice noodle roll and topped with sesame seed as well as some onion oil too. The chee cheong fan gives an authentic taste of Penang where the delights are all the way bring from Penang from the Macalister Lane Chee Cheong Fan.Price: RM 3.90

Penang One is the place I love the most where they do have a variety of food to chooose. We had made a few orders of the food which one of the top Penang food MUST have will be the char koay teow. Well stir fried with the bean sprouts as well as the huge prawns with the “imported” penang koay teow is just perfect. You can opt to add duck egg together with it as well.Price: RM 10.90
