oriental pavilion is a nicelly a Chinese restaurant and well decorated.went here during the last chinese new year for yee sang. the yeee sang is big portion and really nice dining environment here. spacious place to be in jaya 33, easy to find indoor parking and service is here. very good to dine for taking their set as well because the food quality is there and satisfying

To end the dinner nicely, we ordered the mixed fruit platter. The mixed fruit platter consist of watermelon, mangoes, pineapple, papaya and the pink jambu. All the fruits were fresh and nice. Love that the fruits were not cut too small in pieces and they were served cold. Overall, we were satisfied with the whole dinner except that we feel that the fish is an expensive fish, it should not be deep fried.

Well, this fish is an expensive fish. I don't really recommend eating this fish deep fried. I think if you want to savor the best taste of seafood like fish, steam will be a better way of cooking rather than deep frying. Once the fish is deep fried, i can't taste the original sweetness or taste of the fish, not to mention i can't tell tell the texture. The fish is deep fried and wrapped with lettuce and with some salad. The sauce is a buttery sauce.

The roast chicken was also good to eat. This is only half the chicken, therefore, everyone take about two pieces and the whole dish is finished. It proves to be popular because it has a nice crispy skin. After all, the roast chicken was not too salty unlike some places. The roast chicken was juicy and succulent. There were some sweet plum sauce and seasoning powder that comes with the chicken.

Another vegetable dish we ordered was the stir fried mix vegetables. The stir fried mis vegetables although was a simple stir fried dish, the ingredients were all very fresh and not over cooked or under cooked. I personally love the lotus the most. The crunchy lotus is crunchy. Other vegetables in the dish were black fungus, chinese mushroom, four season beans, carrots and celery.

For the beancurd dish, we ordered the Imperial Bean Curd. The name does suggest that this dish will be premium. Indeed, it was very delicious. The bean curd was so smooth and nice. It was soft and felt like melt in your mouth. There were some "fatt choi" in the bean curd that added taste and texture. The straw mushrooms were juicy and fresh. The savory sauce was slightly thick but delicious.

I totally forgot the name of this vegetable, because i was too busy chatting and did not pay attention to its name. When this vegetable was served, the refreshing green looking vegetable was very attractive. Although i did not know the name of this vegetable, i thoroughly enjoyed it. The non oily, non garlic, non soy sauce stir fried vegetable was nice without all those seasoning i mentioned.

I feel that the steamed fresh water prawn with radish cake is quite a weird combination. I never could imagine how these two ingredients can relate to each other until i tasted from this restaurant. I must say that the menu here is creative. The steamed fresh water prawn was just normal for me, since i don't really enjoy this prawn very much. The radish cake was indeed flavorful and nice.

For our soup, we ordered the double boiled shark's bone soup with fish maw. This was an individual serving dish. The soup arrived in the soup boiler and we feel so prestigious to have our own good bowl of soup. The soup was very clear and non oily. The flavor was excellent. It was very rich and tasty. At Oreintal Pavilion, we are assured that the quality of roast pork and char siew will not let us down. True enough, we all enjoyed the combination platter very much. The roast pork was nice with crispy skin, yet it doesn't feel oily or fatty. I also like that the roast pork was not salty like many places. The char siew was equally good. The char siew has a balance fat and lean meat with the sweet roast sauce. The tofu was silky smooth and melt in the mouth.

We wanted to try something different for the vegetable dish, the service staff recommended the charcoal grilled japanese brinjal with miso soup. The dish was very impressive. Taste wise and presentation, it was both memorable and enjoyable. The brinjal has this mild flavor of the charcoal, it was very aromatic. I love the miso soup around the brinjal, very light yet flavorful.

The tidbits or small appetizer is put on the table without request. If you do not want it, you should ask the serving staff to take it away. This time they serve the french beans with anchovies. The french beans was soft, yet there was still some crunchiness. Sometimes i do not like the french beans that were too raw, due to the "green taste". But this is just nice. The anchovies were also soft. RM5.00 per plate, very small plate and expensive for french beans.

Steamed Patin Hakka Style. The patin was topped with a lot of pork lards and minced meat as well as parsley. The soy sauce was just nice, not too salty and not too oily. The fish was fresh, the meat was cooked till just nice, not overcooked, it was soft. I love the pork lards the most and it was crispy and oily. Overall, the dish was nicely done, the soy sauce did not cover the freshness of the fish.

BBQ Baby Duck with Romaine Lettuce. The combination was a unique one as this was the first time I see that a roast duck was served with romaine lettuce.
