Signature Dishes
Old Town White Coffee seem to have branches at almost every corner in the urban townships, so it wasn't exactly a surprise when I heard they've come up with this special MyDulang @ OldTown promotion set in conjunction with the upcoming Ramadhan season. I had the opportunity together with a bunch of bloggers to sample their fares before it was launched the other day. It did not take long for us to settle in, as we were introduced to the MyDulang Set. One dulang contained Rendang Chicken/ Rendang Beef, Chicken Satay with Satay Sauce, Fried Lekor, Cucumber strips, Egg Skin strips, Cooked Long Beans and Kangkung Sambal Hae bee. Now that's a pretty big mouthful even for me to type them out. The nasi kunyit, beverage and dessert were included in the set. On top of the family MyDulang set, we had the individual MyDulang set served for each of us. It wasn't exactly a light meal, one which should satisfy the above average eater.Between a choice of the Rendang chicken or beef, i chose the chicken as their chicken thigh did look very enticing. For the beverage, both the Rose Nata Selasih drink was a really good thirst quencher, but I figured most people will go for OldTown's signature coffee or tea. What's my take on the MyDulang Set? Well, for starters, the individual MyDulang set goes for only RM 16.90 per set, and we're getting all the food in one dulang, together with the accompanying nasi kunyit, a choice of beverage of either Rose Nata Selasih, OldTown White Coffee or OldTown Teh Tarik, and one sweet dessert of either the OldTown Ice Kacang with Rose Syrup or the Ice Kacang with Gula Melaka. Moving on to the desserts which were included with the MyDulang set, I was given a choice between Gula Melaka or Rose Syrup on my OldTown Ice Kacang. Being a lover of anything sweet, I went for the Gula Melaka, which was good, but it would have been so much better if it was sweeter. Yes, I like them sweet, bad for health maybe, but oh so yummy.

The crunchy bun served in Old Town White Coffee is definitely very crunchy, without being too hard. It was served warm, and the bun is baked together with some butter before condensed milk is poured over it. The combination is quite fulfilling, and not too sweet. The portion is not too big, good enough for a snack. Served in a tiny basket, priced at RM4.30, it is quite reasonable.
