Judith is a creative and lady who often come up with new desserts which are inspired by the four season in Japan, namely Summer, Spring, Autumn & Winter. NOSH only uses quality & fresh ingredients in their desserts and the sugar content in the desserts is kept low as Judith believes that fresh & good ingredients brings the best taste out of a dessert and sugar-coating the dessert will only cover-up the original taste of a dessert.

NOSH's Hot Food Menu

Being a dessert-centric restaurant, don't be surprised that NOSH has a proper dessert booklet menu but only a page long of hot food menu!

In conjunction with Mother's Day, Judith has came up with a marvelous new dessert plate that sets to delight all's taste buds...

Rose Berry Pavlova
Sweet, melt-in-the-mouth Meringue topped with soft Rose mousse & tart berries.

This would definitely be my favourite among the four rose palette dessert. The meringue is on the sweeter side but it was balanced off by the sourish berries and mousse. A perfect match of taste and flavours.

The light & airy chocolate chiffon cake complements the creamy butter cream perfectly, with a hint of rosey taste. NOSH's desserts always hit the spot, with a sweetness that is just right and not overly cloying.

Juicy grain-fed Angus beef served with red-wine sauce on a bed of roasted potatoes & mushrooms & seasonal veggies. We requested for our steak to be medium and it turned out just the way we wanted it. Steak was cooked till perfection, and it tasted good on it's own. Tender & not too tough. Thought that it would be better if the steak is served without the sauce though.

One can never leave NOSH without trying out their desserts. Feeling greedy, we decided to end our meal with a sweeter note.

If you're wondering why NOSH doesn't display their cakes and desserts out at the counter, that's because all desserts at NOSH are freshly baked & crafted upon ordering!

Apple Rum Raisin Cheese Cake RM18

Plum Apple & Plump Rum soaked raisin, baked to perfection with Cream Cheese, sitting on a bed of buttery crumble. The creamy texture of the cake and the contrasting crunchy texture of the crumble just go together so perfectly, with a hint of alcohol in the cake.

Peanut butter fans do not miss this. The cake has an evident peanut butter taste which was a perfect match to the chocolate-y crumb. I find this cake a little too cloying though, just my personal opinion and preference but nevertheless it was a good dessert, just that it wasn't up to my preference.

Valhorna Heaven RM36

Signature & best-seller dessert at NOSH. A platter featuring (from left) Gourmet Chocolate Ice-Cream, Molten Chocolate Cake & Tart Au Chocolat!

Do yourself a favor and order this if you're a chocolate fan. The chocolate ice-cream was rich & creamy, molten chocolate cake was perfect, and the tart au chocolat had a crumbly rich chocolate-y crust, and a molten chocolate filling which was just heaven, Each bite was simply divine. Words can't describe how good this palate was.

And of course, we wouldn't forget the mother of all dessert, ice-cream!

The hot molten chocolate cake was a treasure. Rich, dark chocolate fondant come oozing out with a slight prick with a knife. The consistency of the dark chocolate filling was so thick, rich and perfect. Topped with cream and white chocolate, nothing could possibly go wrong with this dish.

My favourite pick would be the tart au chocolat. Crunchy with a subtle, aromatic cocoa tart, concealing the warm, molten rich dark chocolate. It put a smile on my face instantaneously. Love how the chocolate had a hint of bitterness. The sweetness was just nice, just a little hint of it, so that it wasn't overly cloying.

The complexity and sophistication as well as unique pairing of ingredients of the desserts served here definitely was a win. I dare to say that the desserts I had in NOSH is the best I've tried in my whole life (for now). Price might be a little steep but it's definitely worth every penny paid.

Nosh has a classy and clean cut interior, with a neat and spacious layout. Look around and you will find quirky furniture. Such as the unique clock hanging on the wall, or the handle of the toilet, which is actually a frying pan attached to a wooden board.

Quirky little wall clock!
We arrived at NOSH at around 3pm and we were the only customer there. Probably because it was a weekday and Malaysia has this norm of having desserts only at night. Our order arrived quite fast thanks to that.

The body of Berry Harvest was smooth and refreshing. A little hint of sourness, paired with a fruity sweetness that is just nice, not too overwhelming, further enhanced by the milky white chocolate. The green tea cake base gives the whole dessert a slight bitter aftertaste. Bittersweet. This whole dessert had a sophisticated twist, but it all turns out well, perfect and balanced.

As a fan of pumpkin, the Pumpkin Panna Cotta immediately won my heart. Not just because of its subtle, sweet pumpkin taste (though I must admit, the pumpkin taste clearly is a win in this!). The texture of the panna cotta was light, fluffy and smooth as satin, a contrast to the crunchy butter pecan crumble base which was insanely addictive. The smooth Andlaise sauce complements the whole dessert perfectly. Perfectly. (I had to say it twice to emphasize how perfect this dessert was). The combination was simply brilliant.

Last weekend, the three of us caught up at uppity town Bangsar for some delicious bites and sweet indulgences.

Arrived at a restaurant called Nosh. Had a chat with the waiters and soon decided that’s where we’re gonna be parking our arses for the afternoon.

The facade was enough to draw me closer into the dining area.
Loved its classy, clean-cut concept. Wide spaces were used very well!
It boasted an interior of bright and colourful modern art as well as a neat layout.
On the right was the drinks bar where drinks and light food takes shape.

The main kitchen is inside, of course.

On to the food! May I first warn you that they taste just as delicious as they look in photos?

Nosh did a great job in the food presentation and plating.

Beef Bolognese on Chunky Chips

This was a really tasty beef bolognese topped with melted cheese on a bed of potato chips.

Every bite had a light and hearty, smoky aftertaste. I liked how the chips were cut into wide chunks instead of the skinny versions.

Pumpkin Ravioli

Also another signature Italian dish, this boasted delicate gourmet pasta sheets filled with pumpkin served with a luscious onion butter sauce and fresh sage. Very used to the usual spinach ravioli, Nosh’s version of mashed pumpkins gave me a fresh alternative and complemented these ravioli very well.

Salmon with Lemon Capers

Always a fish person, I couldn’t possibly give this salmon treat a miss. Loved it to bits!

A thick piece of salmon fillet grilled to perfection greeted me the moment I laid eyes on my plate. Served in a lemon caper cream sauce, the salmon came with delightful sides of roasted rosemary potatoes and grilled seasonal vegetables.

I could definitely order another one of this and finish it in under 10 minutes.

Dessert time. Which one should I pick?

We are sweet tooths by nature so we were spoilt for choice!

After taking almost half an hour to narrow down and select our mutual favorites, here’s what we got!

We chose the Peanut Butter Heaven and Mont Blanc in the end.

The Peanut Butter Heaven promises heaven to the last bite – and heaven I experienced indeed.

As a diehard fan of both peanut butter and chocolate, this peanut butter cheesecake slice was right up my alley. It was light, not too heavy on the cheese consistency, drizzled with caramel on top and sat on a bed of chocolate crumbles and chopped salted peanuts.

The Mont Blanc was a chocolate cake soaked in rum and resembled a mountain after a snow blizzard of chestnut cream. Dusted with sprinkles of green tea powder, it gave this treat a slight bitter aftertaste to an otherwise sweet dessert.

It was a fantastic day catching up and noshing delectable food and desserts.

Thanks, NOSH for a delightful evening!

Price range for this restaurants from its lighter, smaller meals at RM9 onwards to the heaviest main event at RM70. However, you can be satisfied with most decently sized meals ranging between RM19 to RM40.

We started with some truffle cheese bread. The bread was toasted with thick layer of gorgonzola and cheddar. The gorgonzola was pretty strong (well it is a blue cheese after all) so I felt that the addition of truffle wasn't necessary. In fact I think the flavours kind clashed a little and it was bordering on stinky. But no matter, the bread was nice and fluffy, definitely comforting.

Frank wanted the 'Smashing Cucumber'. It looked like nothing much but tasted pretty good with hint of sesame and soy, a Japanese twist I suppose. The crunchy and slightly sweet cucumber was very refreshing.

The token vegetarian got the Pumpkin Ravioli which induced a case of food envy in me. Look at those gigantic handmade ravioli! Each of them filled with fresh, soft pumpkin that is seasoned just right. The butter, cheesy sauce was eye-openingly rich and full of flavours, with hint of deep fried sage to add that herbaceous note. This was so good I wanted to have more. But I was getting quite full at this point and needed the stomach space for my main course.

And luckily I practised some restraint because my braised beef cheeks dish is huge! I wasn't supposed to be eating red meat but the menu description won me over. The gravy has coffee in it! I've always wonder how that would taste like, and turns out coffee complemented beef in a very strange way. I guess the slight bitter burnt taste works. The beef cheeks were melt-in-the-mouth tender, amazing. I liked the mash because it wasn't overly creamy, which was quite necessary as this is a very rich dish. Loved the beautiful presentation of the dish especially the carved vegetables. So beautiful. I had to admit I couldn't finish the mash because I was stuffed!

But we can't not try their desserts, especially after I saw pictures from my friends who have visited recently for their new desserts. Unfortunately the Goma Macha dessert I was eyeing wasn't available so I settled for the Pumpkin Panna Cotta, while Frank ordered an Apple Cheese Tart.

Pumpkin Panna Cotta
Frank described this as over-the-top presentation but I felt that was the attraction of the dessert: wow factor. Not only visually pleasing, it was so delicious. The soft pudding has the perfect texture with ever so slight hint of pumpkin. The best thing is that it wasn't sweet and cloying. So, so good!

I love the attention to details not only in their food, but also their service. Very attentive, quick to refill our glasses without being too disruptive. Love to come back again to try more dishes. Might just make this a monthly thing since they do rotate their desserts. The bill came up to RM322 but that was because we also had a few glasses of wine. But for food this quality, it's worth it.

The owners Ann and Judith demostrated great passion in food with a great philosophy: No nasty additives, no artificial ingredients, minimal fat but maximum flavours. That's my kind of food!

So passionate, in fact, they have designed the special menu for the month of July and August to celebrate being Malaysians. The dishes have clear local flavours with clever twists and will definitely bring you on a gastronomical journey. I shall also mention they are extremely generous on their portions too so my stomach was quite stretched after tasting everything during our little preview session.

Let's start with the savoury dishes:

Ayam Masak Merah RM32

I love a good Ayam Masak Merah and here it’s taken on a tantalizing twist, with plenty of fresh herbs, pairing with cous cous and tangy salad. The chicken was tender and full of flavours, thanks to the aromatic tomato gravy, bonus point for being non greasy. The couscous was a good accompaniment and a healthier choice than rice.

Grilled Kurau RM42

This was easily my favourite dish of the night. I think it was my first time having Kurau (Threadfin), a type of local fish with very meaty flesh. It was seasoned in their special combination of marinade then grilled to perfection. The yellow lentil dhal with spinach was perfectly cooked with delicate flavours; I couldn’t stop going for more. I love the vibrant colours of the grilled vegetables (you’ll never go wrong with them anyway). This is the most expensive item on the menu but very much justifiable considering the cost of Kurau.

Calamari Cucumber Salad RM29

I told Ann that anyone who uses grapefruit in their salad gets instant approval from me. It adds a beautiful tangy sweet note to this dish. The cucumber ribbons intermingled with their version of Thai “Nam Jim” dressing. My taste buds were doing the tango! The calamari cooked just right with the unique aroma of Kaffir Lime Leaves. I found the batter to be a bit on the hard side though.

Penne Lamb Rendang RM38

Pasta lovers will be delighted with this combination. Here the Lamb Rendang is cooked slightly lighter so the sauce will coat the pasta. With the tender bits of lamb, and the aromatic spices, this dish is a winner! I will be trying to replicate this at home during Raya celebration. Yum.

Time for desserts. Nosh is well known for their beautifully crafted desserts. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Pandan Delicio (Season Special)

Look at that impressive height. I told you the serving here is generous and I would recommend sharing this cake with your best friend or partner. Beautifully airy pandan chiffon (slightly on the sweet side for me), gula melaka butter cream, candied coconut, everything speaks Malaysian yet the technique is authentically French. I loved the butter cream and we ended up taking the whole of first layer (hint hint: more buttercream thanks).

Bubur Cacar Panna Cotta RM 17

Once again, taking our local traditional dessert and turned into this beautiful Italian fusion. You should see the tell-tale wobble when it hits our table (like boobies!). The sweet potato and yam were perfectly cooked too. That thick gula melaka syrup just tied everything together. This belongs to the catwalk or something.

Fruits of the Forest Chocolate Pavlova RM 18

I don’t generally like Pavlova because it’s often sickly sweet with no much flavour. This really surprised me. I suppose the rich chocolate just brought this to a whole new level. It wasn’t that sweet either. Chocolate and Raspberries are a match made in heaven (this is at least the third time I’m typing this sentence on my blog, yes I know I need to think of a new line).

Mango Crème Brulee RM 18

Using Mango in Crème Brulee is an obvious choice. But what’s different about this was the choice of mango. It’s not the usual extra sweet and tangy but rather full bodied and aromatic (almost like jack fruit). I noticed that many use gooseberry as garnish nowadays, a new trend?

With such high standards, Nosh will be pretty hard to beat. I need to bring the bf with me next time. Well, when we eventually have time to ‘date’ that is, judging by our crazy busy schedule. lol.

Egg-powered brunch items are available at Nosh 10am-3pm on weekends & public holidays. Scrambled eggs with mushrooms, spinach, beef bacon, potato chips & grated parmesan help to set the tone for a leisurely morning.
