It was my first time over to Meatworks Restaurant, and from what I had gathered they do have a couple of other branches in KL and Singapore. The restaurant itself looked really clean and white, with chairs and tables which were of minimalist design. With a tagline that read, "For all your meaty cravings, and more", I was pretty hyped up at the prospect of some nice food. The first to arrive at our table was our soup appetizers, namely the Cream Of Mushroom Soup. Unlike the usual mushroom soup available elsewhere, here you could actually taste the texture of the mushrooms used inside the soup. Essentially mixed mushrooms and cream topped up with buttered croutons and parsley, this soup alone filled up a third of my stomach, yes it was that filling.

Believe it or not, this Meatworks Potato Salad was one of my colleague's main dish, as it came in this really big serving of potatos tossed in mayo with spicy meaty chorizo and roasted capsicum. Personally I liked the meat pieces, but not so the potatoes.

The yam ice-cream in Meatworks is just so-so. I personally do not prefer yam in the first place, so this doesn’t really hold any appeal to me. It was served with some raisins, which was a nice touch. It was also decorated with a cherry as well as a mint leaf. Hubby liked this very much, so he basically vacuumed the whole thing. I would probably skip this if hubby orders again the next time.

The orange juice in Meatworks tasted like it was poured out from a bottle of Minute Maid. It was definitely not fresh orange, although there was pulp in the drink. They also put too much ice in the glass, which diluted the drink a lot. There were hardly any orange taste actually. A wedge of orange adorned the glass, which was a nice touch. Priced at RM9.80 per glass, it was slightly expensive.

The ice lemon tea in Meatworks is quite nice as it is full of tea flavour. There was half a slice of lemon in it, together with a mint leaf which added to the flavour. Not too sweet, it was a good complement to the meal, although the serving is a bit small. They put in a tiny straw, like the ones you get when you purchase Vitagen. Smaller sips using smaller straws, so it sort of last longer in a way throughout the meal.

The silver cod in Meatworks is just mediocre in my opinion. The fish was well cooked, but it has a strong fishy smell. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes together with some French beans and olives. The strange thing is, they put some mint sauce on the plate to accompany the fish, so I thought that was weird. Made the fish taste weird too. There was a small bowl of greens on the side. Priced at RM45, I thought it was a bit expensive, but I guess cod is an expensive fish, so the price could

The Linguini Marinara in Meatworks is quite delectable. The pasta is cooked al dente, just the way I like it, not too soft. The sauce is a bit salty, but still acceptable. There were loads of seafood. There were mussels, scallops, prawns and squid. I normally prefer white based pasta, but the Linguini Marinara here is definitely a must-try. Priced at RM28 a plate, it was reasonable as the ingredients were aplenty.

We asked for the Sirloin steak to be cooked medium well, but when it came, it was cooked well done, so the piece of meat was a bit too chewy and hard for my taste. Served on some mashed potatoes and French beans, it was a nice presentation. Half a corn cob and a small bowl of brown gravy completes the set. Overall, I think it is just so-so. Probably better to order the ribeye instead.

The Caesar salad in Meatworks is quite nice. The leaves are tossed in mayonnaise-like sauce, together with some halved cherry tomatoes. The salad is topped with some cheese powder as well as some crunchy croutons. There was also two quartered egg in it, which gives it a nice touch and flavouring. The Caesar salad was definitely better than the baby salad leaves. Definitely recommended!

The baby salad leaves in Meatworks is not baby at all to me, seems more like adult leaves. Probably they meant baby portion? Anyhow, the leaves were quite large, hence contradicting the dish’s name of baby salad leaves. Topped with some julienned carrots, onions, olives and halved cherry tomatoes, I thought it was quite dry, as there were no accompanying sauce. So-so only in my opinion.

The flat bread in Meatworks is akin to tortilla bread. One round piece cut into quarters, it is served together with some tomato gravy and feta cheese with olives. The flat bread is served warm, fluffy and quite enjoyable. The tomato sauce is chilled, slightly sourish. The feta cheese with olives is quite nice when paired with the flat bread. Recommended only if you don’t feel like having soup or salad as a starter.

To wash down our meal, we ordered the honeydew juice. We were disappointed by the honeydew juice that was served. Bland and tasteless, I was literally drinking iced water with a bit of colouring. This could be due to the honeydew that was not sweet in the first place, and when water and ice was added in, this resulted in a poor glass of juice. However, credit has to be given as they did not try to sweeten the juice by adding syrup. Still disappointing though, and the price tag of RM9.80 definite

The mushroom soup in Meatworks is a combination of explosive flavours and creamy goodness. The soup definitely did not come out from a can. I could still taste the bits of mushroom in the soup texture. Served with a generous dose of cream and some herbs, the soup is very appetising and very much a comfort food. Priced at RM15 per bowl, it was quite reasonable as the portion is relatively big. It was almost a meal by itself.

The milk fed lamb was one of the most delicious lamb that I have ever had. The platter had 4 pieces of succulent lamb rack. The fatty part of the lamb was seared till it was crunchy, and the meat was tender. If I was having that at home, I’d probably be a barbarian and eat them with my hand. The plate comes with half a buttery corn cob, some really good mashed potatoes, some cherry tomatoes, some French beans and brown sauce. Priced at RM55, it was expensive, but definitely well worth the amount

Hubby and I were hankering for some western food so we decided to drop by to Citta Mall and visit Meatworks. There weren’t that many people around, so it was good since we didn’t need to wait long for our food. Hubby ordered the rib eye steak with béarnaise sauce. The rib eye was done medium well, and it was perfectly juicy. Just slightly red but not bloody. The beef fillet were definitely tasty and delicious that they were so tender, soft and juicy. They did provide some extra sauce for you to dip along with but you don't need to do that as it was already very flavourful.
