I am a big fan of Fried Koay Teow and recently I have come across this book (TIMEOUT KL) that wrote about Top 5 Char Koay Teow in Kuala Lumpur. One of the restaurants is located at SS2, Petaling Jaya so I drop by for dinner. Restaurant Lorong Seratus Tahun is located at SS2, Petaling Jaya. The restaurant serves authentic Penang Foods in Petaling Jaya so if you guys don't have time to travel all the way to Penang to enjoy their food. Do drop by this restaurant to satisfy your cravings. It was crowded when we arrived so we find our own place to sit. Once seated, the staff gave us the menu. Their recommended dish by TIMEOUT KL are Char Koay Teow therefore we ordered Curry Mee, Assam Laksa, Fried Koay Teow and Penang Rojak.Curry tasted like a mixing of curry powder and peanuts which tasted weird at first sip but then I started to like it. Curry Mee @ RM 9.34Assam Laksa was delicious. Fish was fresh and the highlight was there are no small bones in the noodles that I loved. It was good to have for me. Assam Laksa @ RM 9.34 Fried Koay Teow was aromatic, fragrant and delicious. Fried Koay Teow @RM 10.28Penang Rojak was yummy and sauce was good too. Penang Rojak @ RM 8.40It was a good dinner but the portion was rather small for the price we paid and it was not even full for my Boyfriend that he wanted to have something for dessert. Good service but very packed during dinner hours so it’s a little difficult to get their attentions. Should I drop by again? Maybe I have to think twice.Service Charge: Nil GST: 6%Restaurant Lorong Seratus Tahun, SS2 No 56, Jalan SS2/66 47300 Petaling Jaya Tel: 03- 7865 8577 H/P: 012- 4067 7707 continue reading

I got hooked with Penang food recently especially the Penang Char Kuay Teow, I was around SS2 area and I remember Lorong Seratus does have an outlet at this area. Without any hesitation, I am heading to the restaurant.Need not to think much longer, I would like to have Char Kuay Teow today. However, the appetizers were first to serve. This is one my favourite food, Cuttle Fish with Kangkung Salad (RM8.90). Preparation of the dish is rather simple, the most important is the sauce must be good. Anyhow, the sauce is thick and spicy, I like to eat with the peanut as it will give a good month-feel of it.Penang Chee Cheong Fun (RM4.80), this is Penang style Chee Cheong Fun as they are using prawn sauce instead of sweet sauce. If you were ask me, I would prefer Sweet sauce. Finally, my Char Kuay Teow is served. It has a good aroma of wok hei, you will find three pieces of medium size prawn in it. The Kuay Teow was slightly spicy but overall it is acceptable. I would like suggest to squeeze the lime juice into the Kuay Teow as it will give the noodle a good kick.I have another Fried Noodle to try off which ordered by my friend, seems the taste is the same but the different is Kuay Teow change to Yellow Noodle. Anyway, it is equally good. What’s satisfying meal I have! My crave has been settled with just simple plate of noodle! continue reading

My colleague wanted to fulfill her cravings for Curry Mee (RM 14.90) so she brought us there. I initially wanted to order Nyonya Laksa as I thought it would be the normal Nyonya Laksa I have in Penang which should be similar to Siamese laksa but the waiter said it is just like the normal curry mee. I changed the noodles from the normal bihun to Lai Fun. There were a lot of ingredients inside too especially Cockles, Cuttlefish, and etc. I really like the smooth lai fun. Even the Char Koay Teow scored stars with me. It was not too oily. There were a lot of ingredients too. It was even better than the one in Chow Yang. I tried the Fried Glass Noodles, done in the same style like Char Koay Teow albeit with different noodles. The 3 Layered Coffee was quite tasty and thick and not as sweet as the ones sold in other places.  continue reading

Lorong Seratus Curry Mee is one my favorite place for a good Penang food. It is a great place I love to go my favorite Penang Hawker delights. The shop is well located at SS2 and they have a variety of Penang delights which I love to have which includes curry mee, prawns mee, asam laksa, and more.I am falling in love with curry noodles. The curry noodles is here is well cooked with the coconut soup based and then added with some prawns, tau bok, and many more. The soup base is amazingly good aftter added with the hot and spicy curry paste. It is amazingly good and what I love the most is the curry paste which is being added into the coconut soup based. The spiciness and the fragrant of the curry paste is what I love the mostPrice: RM 7.90 continue reading

My parents were original Penangites and from young, i am accustomed to Penang food and i have very high standard of requirements when it comes to penang food. One of the penang food i like is the otak otak. I don't trust any vendors in klang valley that sells local otak otak. Those who labelled themselves from penang were not authentic either. The otak otak at Lorong Seratus Tahun was above average. Not good enough though. I think taste wise, something was still lacking. The otak otak was steamed warm and served to us. The leaf that wraps the otak otak has a mild scent. The otak otak was moist, juicy and spicy. continue reading
