I love Taiwanese Cuisine because I been to Taiwan before, their foods and desserts are delicious! Little Taiwan was established in 2000 in Malaysia. Hmmm.. actually I can quite put my finger around the problem but something just aint right with Little Taiwan. I'm not sure whether it's because they are a "Halal" restaurant as such not able to use ingredients normally used in authentic Taiwanese fare. Or maybe it's because they hire mainly foreigners in the kitchen who just are not able to grasp Chinese cooking. So many maybes... coz honestly, the food's pretty bad. Beef Claypot Hor Fun. The dry hor fun noodle was served in a claypot with beef slices and a piece of carrot and sweet turnip. A huge amount of beef pieces were given, these beef slices were tender and soft, just nice amount of fats and lean meat, it was melt-in-the-mouth type of texture. The meat can be stripped off easily. The noodle soya sauce was bland and slightly sticky.

Three Treasure Beef Noodle. The noodle was served in a pot-like steel bowl to keep it warm. The dish consists of three different parts of the beef. The beef pieces were tender as they were being boiled quite long. The soup was clear, slightly oily but it was flavourful, slightly spicy. The soup was full of beef essence. The portion was too small. The noodle was springy in texture.

Beef Meatballs noodles. This dish was served with noodles, 2 meatballs and 2 pieces of vegetables. The portion was small and it does not fulfil a big appetite eater. A splash of soya sauce was placed on top of the noodles. After mixing it, the noodles tasted bland. The noodles were springy and soft. The two meatballs were huge and they were very compact with beef meats, the taste was just nice, not too salty.

Mango Ice Blended that has more ice than mango taste. The staff blended too much ice in the drink until it numbed my gum, the drink was just too icy to be drank. It was so diluted with ice and only has tiny bits of mango flavour. Totally not worth the price tag. Tiramisu Shake. The name was misleading as it tasted more like chocolate shake rather than tiramisu shake. It has no slight tint of tiramisu taste it in.

Noodle soup with dumplings. The noodle was served with 3 pieces of dumplings and a piece of vegetable. The soup and noodle was nothing to shout about but the dumplings were really good. The dumplings fillings were thick. It has minced pork together with lots of ginger slice, wrapped in a thin dumpling skin. It has the right amount of saltiness in it. I am a fan of this.

Toast bread with color beans (“Guan Chai Ban” in mandarin or “coffin bread”). From the look of it, the presentation did look unique, but when it was served, I smelled a strong flavour of “oil”. The bread was deep fried and it was extremely oily. The ingredient was a mixture of color beans, chicken pieces and some mushrooms with some sort of creamy gravy. The whole combination tasted just weird and I found it hard to finish the whole dish.

The restaurant is brightly lit, and it has some cubicle seating for privacy too. Mango sago with shaved ice at the bottom covered with mango cubes and mango puree on top. The portion was actually quite small. The shaved ice was not just plain shaved ice, it was mango shaved ice as it had mango taste in it. The mango cubes and puree were sweet. It was quite a nice dessert to end the meal.

I try to avoid this place because all the food was prepared by trained foreign workers, while is a trend now if you are dining in KL and Selangor area. The wantan mee noodle is flat and the wantan soup is super salty.The salty chicken tasted day-old and not fresh.The soup noodle is bland. The claypot lou shu fen is okay, the taiwan sausages are nice.Only the potato balls and fried salty chicken are acceptable, but usually you can't fail with fried stuff.The drinks are overpriced and super sweet.

I was craving for some savory sancks the other day when I walked in to the Little Taiwan eatery. Not wanting something huge or oily, I ordered the Taiwanese Special Toast. The center of the thick toast is being empty and used as a bowl kind of. The filling consists of some chicken chunks, peas, corn kennels and mushroom that cooked in starchy gravy. The flavour is quite Ok, but it's a bit too starchy for me that I don't really enjoy eating it towards to end.
