Hidden among the almost all empty shop lots at Zenith, I manage to stumble upon a humble, French-owned bakery. It's like Alice in Wonderland because the bakery looks quite cute from the outside. I was a bit surprise when I found that only a small part in the bakery is selling pastries. I suppose it's main service is to cater cakes for hotels? Not too sure.I settled with an apple cake as it looks tempting from the fridge. The patissier did warn me that the recipe went wrong with it but I insisted on it. It tasted fresh and moist at first but after leaving it for a few minutes, it starts to hardened up. The taste wasn't too sweet, it wasn't something I'm used to. I would prefer it to be more supple. I would give it another try with the right recipe.

This French-owned bakery-cafe seems lost in the unlikeliest location, churning out croissants & cinnamon-cloaked cakes amid sober rows of laundromats, camera shops & mamak hangouts in Kelana Jaya's Zenith Corporate Park.French butter makes these treats a little more luxurious, but cost-conscious customers will be pleased that prices here remain pegged to the ringgit, not the euro.Pate brisee (RM1.70 each), rich shortcrust pastry that's simultaneously crunchy & crumbly.Peach danish (RM4.40), totally peachy, theoretically available 9am-8pm daily.Should the weather prove kind, take a table on the sidewalk (L'EpiD'Or has no indoor seating) & savor a serving of the Galette Frangipane (RM5.20). Memories of madeleines eaten in bygone times in faraway lands (RM4 for four at L'EpiD'Or) ensure we never miss out on purchasing them whenever possible.
