Lan je steam fish is already famous among the fish lovers and thanks to livingsocial that I finally get to try this at a cheaper rate.A not to be missed Thai coconut.We've ordered 2 fishes (talapia fish that ranges from Rm15-18 each), one with normal level of spiciness, another extra spicy so we get to try different sauces.I prefer the normal one as I can still taste the fish instead of spiciness alone. 这里的蒸非洲鱼可以说是远近驰名。因为这里的蒸非洲鱼鱼肉非常的新鲜，而且很肥美，肉质鲜甜。一点也没有腥味还有泥臭的味道。里面的酱油汁调到很好吃，和鱼肉很搭配。可是就好像有一点小了

Steam tilapia – little spicy. Since my dining partner prefer some spiciness, he ordered the “little spicy” version, whereby they just added some chilli together with the mashed ginger. It was slightly salty and it gave a slight spiciness to the fish. The fish was big and it was fresh. It does not have the strong fishy smell / taste that black tilapia had. The meat was springy.

Steam tilapia – not spicy. There were a few version of the spicy level for the tilapia, I ordered the non-spicy version. They are famous for one fish for one person, so I get to salvage the fish all by myself. Ended up the fish was too big for my stomach and my dining partner had to eat some for me. The fish was topped with mashed ginger with heavy ginger spicy taste. The soy sauce added some saltiness to the fish.

Stir fried yaomak. Actually I was planning not to order vegetables but just could not bear with without vegetable, I ordered one in the end. It was a simple stir fried yaomak. The portion was not too big compared against the price. The yaomak was slightly old as the color was a bit dark green. It was not as fresh as it supposed to me. The stir fried was a simple bland taste.

Fresh coconut.I have been a fan of Lan Je since I first tried it in Rawang. After many years of not having it due to the far location, I finally got the chance to try since it just opened in SS3 area. When I heard they offer fresh coconut, I ordered one coconut. The top was opened nicely. The coconut juice was sweet and very cooling. The santan flesh was a lot and soft too. I managed to eat a lot.

Mum wanted to have coconut juice, so we ordered one for her. However, it was quite disappointing. The coconut was very old, and the flesh was super thick and hard. The only consolation is that the juice was sweet. The price of RM7 per coconut was also amazingly expensive. The Coca-Cola was priced at RM3 per can, which was also quite expensive I think. Bottom line, Chinese tea would probably be a better option.

The waitress recommended us to order the sweet potato leaves as she mentioned that they were very fresh. We agreed to order a small portion. The sweet potato leaves definitely did not disappoint. Both the stem and the leaves were fairly young, crunchy and fresh. It tasted rather sweet to me, as if too much sugar was being put. However, it was still quite a good one to have. Priced at RM9 for a small portion, it was decent.

Lan Je not only serves steam fish, but they also offer a myriad of other dishes. We decided to have some deep fried salted chicken to complement our meal. The chicken pieces were quite tasty. Deep fried to golden perfection and lightly salted, the chicken was a good addition to the meal. They gave mostly bony parts, which I like very much. Breast meat doesn't do for me. Served with a few slices of cucumber, the price of RM11 per plate was definitely justifiable.

I was driving past Kelana Jaya the other day and saw a small banner that say the famous Lan Je will be opening an outlet in SS3. Excited, as I was a fan of Lan Je ever since I sampled their dishes in their USJ branch. I took mum and dad to their restaurant to have dinner, as they are fans of steamed fish themselves. The day was hot and we were tempted to order the Thai Coconut drink. The Thai coconut turns out to be very good. The whole coconut was definitely smaller than our local coconut, but the juice and the coconut flesh was delectable. The young coconut's juice was clear and sweet. The juice has this aromatic coconut taste. The coconut flesh was young and sweet too. The flesh was tender and easy to scoop out.

Another portion of stir fried vegetable is the Potato Leaf. We also ordered the small portion at RM9.00. The stir fried potato leave was cooked in a "fu yu" sauce. The "fu yu" taste was mild and not overpowering. The sauce was slightly salty due to the "fu yu". The potato leaf was a bit "old", i would prefer to have the potato leaf to be more tender. However, no big fuss on that.

The bitter gourd fried egg is charged at RM9 for s small portion. The dish was a simple dish but well prepared. The bitter gourd was not bitter, in fact it tasted bitter sweet. I love that the bitter gourd was prepared in a "dry and crunchy" way. The bitter gourd fried with the egg was delicious. The eggs were not oily and it was lightly seasoned. I think the small portion will be enough since all of us would be more focus on eating the steamed fish.

When i learned that Lan Je opened a new branch in SS3, i took the opportunity to bring my mom and her friends to try. Their famous one fish for one person is still the best. Only one type of sauce, which is the soy sauce, and only one type of fish, the tilapia fish. Your only option is the level of spiciness, the fish and the sauce are fixed. The fish is slightly bigger and they charged RM16 for a fish. the fish is steamed with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and chili padi. The fish has no muddy tas
