Went there few time before and it's always crowded during the weekend. You might need to line up while waiting for your seat and you might end up sharing table with strangers. There's numerous of famous dish for the restaurant but hainese style chicken chop would still my favourite. It's crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Love the taste of the brown sauce as well. The chicken chop come with a decent portion but I love to pair it together with roti bakar with their homemade kaya. Yum!

And here's some of the environment pictures I shoot using my Lomography camera during my first visit to the restaurant. It's late and the shop is closing soon, therefore it's less crowded. But I really love the vintage feeling of an old kopitiam that remains until now.

My friend suggested me to try their Roti Babi at RM 7.50 which is quite expensive for a coffee shop. Roti babi is a bread pocket stuffed with shredded pork and onion dipped in Worcestershire sauce. On our first look, it is a very plain old french toast roll but you'll found the surprise once you open up the inside and have a look. The filling on the bread was very juicy. It is a really enjoyable meal for me and it completes my lunch of the day and portion was really big.

A must try dishes is the Hainese style Chicken Chop. The chicken portion was big, tender and juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The gravy was very flavourful and comes together with some hot potato wedges.

Overall, this is a must try dishes in Yut Kee.

The chicken is coated with light batter and deep fried till golden brown, taste decent. It was not crispy anymore as it already soaks up most of the brown sauce, good thing as it contributes moisture to the chicken. The brown sauce is a little diluted for me. It came with mixed vegetables and potato wedges as well. Overall the dish is nothing to shout about.

Roast pork slice with apple sauce. This is Yut Kee’s signature dish. The pork roll was roasted as a whole and we just ordered one portion (two slices). The apple sauce was slightly sourish. The roast pork roll was stuffed with apricots and pistachios, hence the sweetness exerted from the pork slices. The skin was roasted to crispiness and very brittle. The meat was fork tender, with a little bit of fat in between.

Roti Babi (RM8)Since this is the most famous dish in Yut Kee, I had very high expectation. When I took a bite, I was really disappointed as there was nothing special about it. Although it was filled with crab meat, pork slices and onions, all the ingredients were bland and the bread was slightly oily. The dry beef noodles were filled with squids, nuts and beef slices. It was nothing extraordinary.

Roti babi, just like it name says. It actually is a chinese version of pork burger. But they just don't use cheese all those. This roti babi is stuffed with lots of pork. The pork inside is quite thick. I like how the pork taste. Some pork has the very smelly pork taste but this pork has the sweet pork taste. I like to eat this while dipping with their chicken chop sauce.

Their signature hainanese chicken chop has received rave reviews from food journalist and bloggers alike and has been featured in several food magazines and newspaper countless times. The chicken cop was fried till golden color and was crispy but what makes it different from the other hainanese chicken chop is that the frying batter has the distinctive taste of egg white in it. You could taste the fluffiness of the egg mixing with the gravy before chewing the tender chicken chop.

If you were to visit Yut Kee, the one thing you must try is this signature pork babi. The pan fried outer layer was made of bread and deep fried. It was oily but worth a try. Loaded in the bread was caramelised onions with pork shreds. Juicy (perhaps oily), sweetly savory it was. The pork was not consistently tender but rather a mixture of rough and tender pork shreds which could be intentional. The only thing I would complain is the lack of meat in the roti babi.

Taste so so but better with the sambal & lime that they provide together with the dish.
If you ask me, I don't recommend this, stick to the pork chop or roast pork roll (roast pork roll is special available on weekend only).

I am a fans of pork but sometimes I scared of the pork smell too. So it is actually quite a dilemma for me. Luckily their pork chop here is very nice. The meat is very smooth. The outer layer has been fried till crispy. The sauce is similar to the chicken chop. I think this is the very typical hainanese western food sauce.

I couldn't think of a more crude way to name this delicious fried pulled pork sandwich. "Roti babi". Salty and semi-dry shreds of pork with mildly-caramelized onions to sweeted the mix, stuffed in bread and fried. Oily and crude, yet so beautiful. I would say it could be better. I'd prefer it more tender/moist, with fully-caramelized onions. The bread is also a little too dry an oily. Despite all the flaws, it's quite satisfying and is considered by many to be a "must order" item at Yut Kee.
