James Foo Western Food (Moved) New Location

Waiting time aside.. since it's packed with most high schoolers, i am frequently amazed and yet disappointed at how many people rate this place.Personally i have nothing against the establishment, as they found a niche that they can build a long term business on. It is an old name that has survived and thrived. I just wonder how was the food back then?All i can say is how the food is at the present. It's not good. It's not exactly cheap either. It's not expensive at the same time. The prices are standard for localized versions of a poor man's western food.For less than 10RM, you usually get stuff like starched sauces, bland soups from powder, cheap cut of meats, frozen fish fillets, some fries on the side and a "salad" that is really a few pieces of sad looking vege with some oversweet excuse for a dressing. Don't even get me started on the lousy mayonese.If you're from Malaysia, that's what you get.But this place, it's worse. The food are sorry pieces of meat, overcooked, cold and dry. Might as well eat a piece of raw leather drenched in lots of starched sauce. It's bad. Really really bad.I'm sorry. I can't stand here and see all these "reviewers" probablt mislead people like me.You see, i'm not from Penang. Moved here for work some time ago. People "reviewed" James Foo to be the bomb in this cheap localized western food arena. I tried it a few times, trying to give myself an excuse to believe them.Each time was worse than the previous. Out of the many "reviewers" that favor the place and i won't judge them, i just hope the ones that read this, maybe some of you escaped the hype and didn't have to waste your time and money on this place. continue reading

This branch is located at Jalan Fettes, Fettes Park, Penang, Tanjung Bungah.Grilled salmon served with chipsFish and chips is a classic western food. The grilled salmon is overcooked. It is flaky and quite hard to chew. The chips on the other hand are quite good. It is prepared in big chunks and full with potato flavour. The outer skin is crispy and the inner is soft. Potato SaladFor some appetizer before the main dishes arrive, potato salad seems good to go. Basically it is decently done with cubes of potatoes that are being evenly mixed with mayonnaise. The potatoes that have been earlier boiled are quite soft to the taste bud and smelled fragrantly. The dressing added is just nice, not too much so you won’t feel too creamy. With some dashes of black pepper is enough to spice it up pleasantly. continue reading

James Foo Western Food是朋友介绍的。他们说这里的人流很高，应该很不错吃。没有带着太大的期望去，因为去到槟城，我还是prefer尝试local food。去了那里，等了一会，我们才被安排位子，看来真的很受欢迎。点了蘑菇汤跟鸡扒。真的有惊讶。虽然蘑菇汤价格不高，但是quality很好，汤都是浓的，我喜欢。鸡扒也很大portion，也算好吃！值得！！ continue reading
