Mille crepes are made popular by a cafe called Nadeje in Malacca. Since then, mille crepe places have sprouted here and there in and around KL; though they never really took off in popularity that much. The mille crepes here are fresh, creamy and come in various flavours. The vanilla is the best - sweet and simple.

Went to Humble Beginnings to buy birthday cake for my wife niece, as she loves starberry and pink color very much, so me and wife decided to buy her starberry haven Mille Crepes (french) cake.Lots of starberries blended into the cake and the straberries are fresh.And for this cake, there are 20 layers of crepes with a delightful combination of Fresh Cream and Vanilla Custard between each layer.Very nice.

Last but not least, we had the Strawberry Mille Sponge which is not a mille crepe. This is where it is made of four layers of sponge cakes. Every layer is filled with the strawberry cream in between and topped with the fresh strawberry on top. The delight is my favorite sponge cake where it just melts in the mouth. Sinfully delicious and the sponge is just soft and good. Not too sweet

The small café is indeed well impressing me with the sweet design of pocca dots which is in the shop.Raspberry Peanut butter is my favorite mille crepes which I fall in love with at Humble Beginings as it has a thick and fragrant peanut butter in between and what’s more is the raspberry which is not too sour and it makes well together with the crepes. It makes a great blend together which I love the most.

Previously an online cake shop offering one of the best mille crepes in KL, Humble Beginnings has taken on a physical shop in Bangsar. A friend, who heard so much from us about Humble Beginnings, decided to get a cake from them for his girlfriend. He chose the Peach Passion Mille Sponge, which then we told him we had never tried that cake before. He graciously gave us quarter of the cake, and we were delighted. There were four layers of sponge slathered in the vanilla cream with lots of peach chunks in it. Quite enjoyable!

Hubby is a fan of chocolate, even more a fan of chocolate cake. I personally not very much a fan, as I find most chocolate cakes out there are too rich and too sweet. However, I got the Ultimate Chocolate Cake for hubby’s birthday couple of weeks ago from Humble Beginnings, and found that it is quite nice. Moist and sinful, it was the epitome of chocolate cakes. We had it with some vanilla ice-cream, and it was heaven!

I was hankering for some caramelised almonds, but didn’t know where to get a cake that has this. Hubby was searching in the internet, and we were surprised to find that Humble Beginnings had a cheese cake named Almond Brittle Cheese that has caramelised almonds as part of the main ingredient. We ordered a whole cake, and it was superb! The almond base was light and fluffy, and there were lots of caramelised almond bits in between. Definitely well worth the amount paid.

I have always tried the crepe cakes from Humble Beginnings, and never had a chance to try their cheese cakes, which I heard were very nice as well. Hubby and I decided to get the chocolate chip mocha cheese for a relative’s open house, so that we would have a chance to try it out as well. The marbled cream cheese and mocha cheese had lots of chocolate chips in it, and the based tasted of Oreo’s biscuit. Definitely a great combination. Must try!

We got the Royal Milk Tea as a Mother’s Day cake for mum last weekend. The Royal Milk Tea in Humble Beginnings was quite nice. The fresh cream between the layers of crepes were smooth with a rich tea flavour. Mum enjoyed this very much, as it wasn’t very sweet. We added some chocolate shavings for a nominal fee, and the combination was perfect. Definitely a must-try.

After a few servings of creamy cakes, I decided to try out the peach passion. It looked pretty light to me, and the peach slices were very invitingly fresh. The fresh cream had a tinge of peach flavour to it, and it was very nicely paired with the slices of peach. Superb combination of peach slices and fresh cream and is both light and not heavy to the stomach. Priced at RM9.90 a slice, it was a reasonable price to pay.

Hubby wanted the peanut butter chocolate. I wasn’t really a fan, so I was hesitant to try it. However, hubby was adamant, so we decided to order one. I thought the peanut butter would make the crepe very dry, however, in the contrary, it was rather moist. Full of peanut butter flavour with chocolate chips hiding in between each layer, the combination is quite satisfying, although a little rich. Good to try.

The French Vanilla is their signature flavour, and it definitely lived up to the expectation. Every layer of crepe was nicely slathered with vanilla fresh cream. It was light and subtle and not overly-creamy. I had two slices to myself, and even then, it was still not enough for me. Good thing I bought other flavours to try out. Priced at RM9.90 a slice, it was well worth the money paid.

The seller suggested us to get the Coffee Bliss, as it was one of their best-sellers. The Coffee Bliss from Humble Beginnings is really nice. The layers of crepe, 20 to be exact, is filled with a strong, aromatic taste of kopitiam styled coffee. The crepes were light, with a melt-in-your mouth sensation. Priced at RM9.90 a piece, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.

I used to patron Humble Beginnings even before they opened a retail shop. The whole cakes had to be delivered to a florist in Aman Suria, where I will pick them up personally. I was overjoyed when I heard that they have a shop in Bangsar, and that they are selling the cakes by slices.
