Heritage Village (Closed)

Teh C. We were rounding the aman suria area for a brunch, and we ended up at Heritage Village. The parking was ample on a weekend morning. The shop was empty when we arrived, thus the service was attentive. After choosing our main dish, we ordered the teh C. It was served with sugar. The teh C was not too concentrated, it has the right amount of evaporated milk. Not bad actually.

Durian Cendol. Once my dining partner spotted the durian cendol from the menu, he immediately ordered this durian cendol without hesitation. This durian cendol has a spat of durian on top of it. The durian does not has strong taste. The cendol has red beans and shaved ice. It has some slight durian taste in the syrup. The red bean was soft and gave a further sweetness to the dessert.

Pie Tee. Heritage Village does offer some Nyonya dishes, although the Nyonya varieties were not much, but it has the common ones. We ordered this pie tee. It was half a doze and came with a plate of chili. The chili was not spicy but it was tangy enough to eat with pie tee. The pie tee skin was crispy and the sengkuang was soft. The skin was not oily even though it was deep fried.

Nasi Lemak Rendang Ayam. The normal ingredients of nasi lemak i.e peanuts, anchovies, half hard boiled egg, sambal came together with the rendang ayam. Chicken thigh was being served and the meat was tender. The rendang was thick and filled with coconut flavour, it was aromatic. I rather mix the rendang sauce with rice than the sambal. The plate of sambal was not too spicy.

Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong. This version of nasi lemak came along with cucumber slices, hard boiled egg, peanuts, anchovies, sambal as well as sambal sotong. I have high expectation for the sambal sotong as I am a fan of sambal sotong. However, Heritage Village's version was slightly lacked luster, the sambal was slightly diluted, not concentrated enough for my liking. The sotong was soft and not too spicy.

The plate consist of a few sides and fried rice. The rice is not exactly fragrant but is quite good. I love the acha because it is a great appetizer with sour taste. The chicken however is a disappointment because of how small it is. The spice rice is suppose to have 2 buffalo wings but it had become a small measly piece. The sambal is a must try. The rice taste so much tastier with it! I can't help but have several servings of it!

常常都在吃nasi lemak的我，偶尔就会特别想吃，就像今天，来到这里点了他们的nasi lemak rendang ayam，还蛮大份的，rendang鸡也给的蛮多的，饭煮得还蛮香，rendang的味道也很美味，也不会煮得太湿，因为rendang就是要煮得够干才香的。

I was in Aman Suria buying my favourite buns in Thyme Bakery when I noticed Heritage Village. Feeling a little peckish, I decided to drop by there for tea. I was intrigued by the duck egg char koay teow as I have never had it before, hence I ordered. The char koay teow was quite nicely fried, with lots of wok hei. I think they mixed a bit of chicken egg with duck egg, though I am not very sure. Some bits of the egg had the slight gamey taste of duck egg, though not all. Overall quite delicious.

Soya cendol is a combination drink that i seldom come across. But this combination is nothing too strange, as i love both the cendol and the soya drink. The soya cendol was not too sweet, which i prefer. I love the freshness of the soya bean drink, it is not the carton soya drink. The fresh soya bean added with green color cendol is a pretty sight. I enjoyed sipping the cendol.

Iced white coffee from the heritage village seems to be not bad. I quite like the overall taste of the white coffee. It was aromatic, and very thick. I love the smoothness of the coffee, i felt so contented drinking the iced white coffee. However, the white coffee will feel slightly diluted towards the end when the ice cubes starts melting. Therefore, the best is to drink it when it was served.

Bubur cha cha is also a nice dessert, but this dessert is quite rich in coconut milk, therefore, it can be quite filling. Furthermore, the ingredients in the bubur cha cha are yam, sweet potatoes, mung beans and sago. The yam and sweet potatoes are heavy starch and carbohydrates, together with the coconut milk, the calories are shooting sky high. Added the durian paste in the bubur cha cha is another kind of experience. The durian paste was really fragrant, but i felt it was slightly diluted.

I always love to eat lobak, and i really like the lobak from Penang. The chicken lobak platter from Heritage Village is just average. I think the chicken lobak was not too bad, but still lacking in some flavors. I like lobak to be very heavily spiced. There were also century egg, beancurd and cucumber in the platter. The chilli sauce and the thick lobak sauce was just average.

During the weekdays, there is a lunch promotion for certain food on certain days. The day i visited was the Asam Laksa day. The price is lower compared to other dishes. The asam laksa was just average in taste. I feel that the soup was not thick and flavorful enough. The fish given in this dish was also little. I find that the soup tasted sourish and i do not prefer sourish asam laksa.

Heritage Nyonya Set is another mind blowing set, if you really feel like having a big feast, this could be the right dish for you. The heritage nyonya set consists of one main dish, one side dish and the white rice. The main dish chosen was sambal prawn, and the side dish chosen was jiu hu char. The sambal prawn was a bit disappointing, i think the prawns were not that fresh. The jiu hu char is the stir fried turnips with dried sotong strips. Jiu hu char was nice.

For any nasi lemak die hard fan, who are very hungry, then there is the nasi lemak king combo. This is really a "king" size nasi lemak that consists of chicken rendang, sambal sotong, pickled vegetables, crackers, sambal, hard boiled egg, peanuts, anchovies and cucumber. The chicken rendang never disappoints me, the sambal sotong was alright. The sotong were fresh, but i did not like the sambal.
