Well, this was quite unique and i've never seen any fish paste ball at any steamboat restaurants before. We decided to give it a try. I find that the size was pretty huge and the fish ball was fresh and bouncy. The foo chok combination with fish paste was a brilliant idea, it was like the best of both worlds! continue reading

continue reading

I have been going to the Harbour Steamboat branch in Bandar Puteri, Puchong but this time round decided to try out this branch to see if there is any differences. Conclusion: there are disappointment but also new discovery.I didn't manage to capture any photos as we were having guests and were too tired and hungry. The service was too efficient until my friend and I find it pressuring to place order. The moment we sat down, one female staff came and took orders for drink without us having the time to even look at the menu. I ordered my usual herbal soup and tried the white pepper soup. Surprisingly, the soup base here is very good compared to the one in Puchong. The one in Puchong was a bit tasteless in terms of sweetness and its only after we had our food thrown in, the aroma and sweetness comes together. The soup I had here was so different. I tried the soup before we had anything in there and it was so good. The white pepper soup was not bad until they added more soup into it and diluted the taste of white pepper. We also had the homemade fish balls, garoupa slices, special pork slices etc. The garoupa slices was again another disappointment. It wasn't as fresh as the one I've tried few times while in Puchong branch.Overall, I prefer the branch in Puchong as the location provides better parking, more table seating arrangement and much bigger space and food quality somewhat better. continue reading

This restaurant is serving non-Halal food as well, but it's my favourite steamboat restaurant around my housing area. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very warm and cheerful. All the hand-written messages fill the entire wall there!Left: Herbal pork leg soup ; Right: Tom yam soupThe herbal soup is really flavourful with chinese herbs but the tom yam soup is a mere spicy soup, not as sour as I like. The yam pieces here are deep-fried before being cooked in the hot pot. It is very crispy even after immersed into the soup for quite some time. The meat is really thin and best eaten 30% raw. It is so juicy and soft in between the meat and fatty layer. For more detailed review, visit my blog entry at http://ohfishiee.blogspot.com/2011/08/harbour-steamboat.html continue reading
