Shen Rou Bao is also called as pork bao. It is quite famous among the peoples too. The pork is soft and juicy. You can smell the aroma of the shen rou before you bite it. It taste great, and inside have egg too although the pau is small. The taste of the meat is not oily and not salty too. The juice of the meat will flow into your mouth when you bite the pau. I really enjoy every mouth of the pau!

Well, for me I only heard of this famous pau upon joining one friend for one day dedicated to food trail at Tanjugn Sepat, hehe. Upon stepping in the shop, it was quite cooling compared to the scorching day outside, thanks to the cooler, haha… It’s very hot indeed that day, hehe. You could see mass production of the freshly made pau with many trays laid side by side. Staff are also busy preparing the filling for the pastry too.

So I got my favorite Red Bean Pau. Of course, in this case it is in black color, hehe. The bun was fluffy and soft. Warm while holding it as it’s freshly made. The paste was delish and not too sweet Just that it would be better if they are more generous on the red bean paste, keke. You can also opt to take away those cooler one and keep in fridge for next day comsumption. Of course, you gotta reheat them first

Finally I have the chance to visit Tanjung Sepat, after hearing so many positive feedbacks from my friends. Normally what I heard about Tanjung Sepat are "the seafood is cheap.", "the Lover's Bridge got nothing to see, and it's longggg and horrribbblleeeee.", "hey you know there's a mushroom farm where you can even see them planting Ling Zhi?", and again "the seafood is cheap and delicious"........hmm so I gonna see these by myself lol. So I tried to google about Tanjung Sepat and the itinerary of one day trip. And ta-da! I have been there by myself. Therefore I would like to begin my post by introducing this....

HAI YEW HENG

You know why? It is simply because every time I google about Tanjung Sepat, this will pop out. So I guess Tanjung Sepat trip is definitely incomplete without............. the soft and fluffy steamed bun of Hai Yew Heng. Their buns are popular, fast-selling and of course YUMMY. They even sell their buns in other places because I could see their vans on the way to Tanjung Sepat, but I don't know the exact places they go, maybe some kopitiams lol.

Next, was their Kaya Pau. Although Kaya Pau is quite familiar at everywhere, but this pau still special too. The specialty of this pau is I believe that the kaya was homemade one as the kaya was in light green color where others places might be dark green color or brown color and it was so smooth and soft, meanwhile, I can taste the kaya included with rich eggs and Santan (Coconut Milk).

Last but not least, their Pau is really nice!!!

At the shop, a friendly uncle steamed two pau for us, one shen rou pau RM 2.2(marinated pork with half a boiled egg inside) and one dousa pau RM 1.4 (green bean). We also ordered some fried yam stuff, stuffed crab, a lobak (pork roll) RM 6 for all and a dozen of fishballs (RM3).

The pau is yummier than most pau you see steaming at chinese coffee shop but not as yummy as Ipoh's DimSum shops' pau. The dough is lighter than those dimsum pau. The dousa looked weird because it's black in color, instead of greenish. My suggestion is they make custard corn and pandan fillings pau too

Still hot from steamers, the fishballs are al dente and will taste nicer if they give Kampung Koh chili as dips instead of those common western chili sauce. Fried stuff will always taste yummy cuz it's fried.

We also bought a bag of tapioca chips because the uncle keep pouring samples on our plate to try. Those are yummy too. There are lots of local products are on display under two stalls outside the shops. There's a traditional coffee maker shop few doors down too.
