continue reading

This place is brimming with Chinese patrons from China. I later discovered that the reason lies behind the Chinese boss since the cashier is a young Chinese lady. We were initially drawn to this place due to the banner advertising the steamboat as RM 18.90 instead of RM 22 and teh waitress told us that the portion is enough for two people. The portion turned out to be quite little, where there are only one fishball, egg and mini fried ee foo meeinstead of two. The Chinese herbal soup was not fragrant enough too. Anyway, the special thing is that they use a rectangular shallow pot instead of the common rice pot equivalent. We ordered additional ee foo mee which cost RM 3 for 3 eaches which we also finished. The biggest mistake done was to order the Chinese Tea Pot which cost RM 10 for the small pot! We should have opted for the RM 1.50 per cup of Chinese tea. It was a big regret for us. Another thing, that is very weird is that this is the only cafe in the entire Malaysia which follows the Australian way where they charged us RM 4 for using the sauces! How can that be? In Malaysia, we normally do not charge people for the sauce and condiments which are expected to be included. We took some watermelon from the sauce buffet but when we wanted to take third portion, there was no refill at all so finally we relented. I wonder what will happen when GST is included too. The whole bill came up to RM 39.50 after service charge. Addition of side orders like fishballs, mushrooms etc cost at least RM 6-8, quite normal price like Shabu-Shabu and Bone. I guess the price is ok if we take into account the newness of it and the ambience that looks like a Chinese restaurant in a hotel with red cushions, red baby chairs, red uniform for the waiters and also the traditional Chinese dividers.  continue reading
