Gecko Gastrobar is a casual hangout in Damansara Perdana with plenty of potential; we've been particularly intrigued to hear that alcoholic ice cream will be introduced here soon, infused with Macallan 12-year single malt, Johnnie Walker whiskey, kahlua & Guinness Stout. Tragically, none of the liquor-laced ice cream was available on our recent visit, so we settled for Gecko's savory stuff instead. The French-style duck sausages were worth trying; saltier than we'd have liked, but rich with meaty flavor. Duck sausages can have a pretty distinctive taste A real sausage fest: North African-inspired chicken merguez, enjoyably juicy & well-seasoned. Gecko's sausages are made in-house, free of preservatives. continue reading

If anyone of you ask "where can I get alcohol ice cream" two years ago, I might not be able to answer you. No, we are talking about real alcohol, Rum Raisin is not counted. What are we interested to have is real alcohol stuff, like Guinness ice cream or similar. It wasn't until lately I discovered there is this restaurant named Gecko, located in PJ Trade Centre that serves truly alcohol ice cream. How does Macallan 12-year old single malt ice cream sound to youThe first time I tried, I totally fell in love with this. It was milder than Macallan, that is for sure. I love the awesome combination of the bitter note of Macallan and sweetness of ice cream. The texture was smooth and creamy. Oh my god, can I have another one pleaseBesides another worth noting alcoholic ice cream they serve is Guinness ice cream. For the Guinness lovers, this is something you should at least give a try. Personally I did not quite like the strong bitterness of Guinness in the ice cream. I wouldn't reject a good Guinness draught but I would pick Macallan ice cream over Guinness ice cream by default, for I have the strong alcoholic soul in me. continue reading
