Decided to try something different since was around the corner. Love their western food selections here and portion size is huge! Went for a change and got the meatballs to go with the usual coleslaw and mash potato.  somehow still love the meatballs from Ikea! continue reading

Whenever I step into a restaurant that serves pasta, I usually can't resist ordering a plate of Carbonara to compare with my favorite at Pizza Uno, Bandar Utama. The next best that I've tasted was recommended by a friend of mine which is on par with my favorite and that is Dave's Bistro Bar & Grill at 1 Utama.Although the setting at this restaurant is far from what a fine dining restaurant would be, I was quite surprise with the quality of the food that they churned out effortlessly despite the lunch crowd filling the limited seats to the brim and the busy atmosphere with a long line at the cashier waiting for their order to be taken. The Carbonara Fettuccine was certainly up to the level of my utmost satisfaction and is just slightly below my favorite in terms of taste. The Carbonara sauce was portioned adequately with the Fettuccine and the flavoring was rich and creamy but not overboard. The beef bacon blended in well and provided a nice mixture in it. The pastry added into the dish was a smart move to provide a little crunch to the meal but would've been better if they were bits of crouton instead of a strip.Overall, a heavenly tasting pasta dish and the Cappuccino that I ordered for after-meal enhance my appreciation for this outlet further. continue reading

Love to come to this place for dining. Simply because i can pick my fresh ingredients at Jaya Grocer and pass it to the kitchen crew to prepare it. I always like to get fresh salmon from the crushed ice shelf, with some greens and give it to the kitchen crew to make two of my favorite dishes - Salmon Pasta and Salmon Salad. It reminds me so much in Aussie fresh market!Nevertheless, this will be my regular dining spot for at least next few months! continue reading

Here's how Jaya Grocer has become a "grocerant" (grocer + restaurant). Choose meat and seafood from the supermarket, then bring it all to the counter of their in-house eatery, El Fresco, and pay for it to be cooked (a surcharge of 12 ringgit is imposed per item). Grab a seat at the dining area while waiting for the food to be sent to you. We asked for the Aussie chilled Wagyu rib-eye to be prepared medium-rare, but it came out medium. Tasted like a mediocre steak, but it was unclear whether the blame rested with the cooking or the quality of the beef (or both). The lamb chops were gamy and chewy, with more fat than meat. El Fresco offers three options for side dishes: salad leaves, mixed veggies or pasta. continue reading
