El Cerdo is a very interactive restaurant. All the staff there seek to give the best to customers. Any server can introduce you the house specialty and also assist you in slicing the roast pig. Traditionally in Spain, they use the round side of the plate to slice the pig in three sections. The plate is then smashed to "remove bad luck" and the person who smashes the plate is also allowed to make a wish that is said will come true with this ritual.

If you feel like slicing a piglet with its head still in tact kinda gory and horror, you can always try the Seafood Paella.

El Cerdo is also a great place for birthday celebrations because the staff will give the birthday person a free dessert as well as a piglet keepsake while sigining their signature El Cerdo birthday song

El Cerdo is one of the best places to enjoy pork. They serve up some awesome dishes especially the pork knuckle or suckling pork. Other items on the menu are good too but the star is always their pork dishes. Service is very good & attentive. The restaurant also has a great atmosphere. Upon entering, we were served with a basket of bread and some spreads. As you have probably guessed, the spread is made from pork, we have no idea which parts, but it tasted wonderfully good. We had one or two servings of these before the other dishes we ordered came along. It was complimentary.

Previously when we visited The Steakhouse @ Changkat Bukit Bintang, operates by the same company, we thoroughly enjoyed their Caesar’s Salad, in fact I commented that it was one of the best I have had thus far. Not wanting to miss the chance of savouring the deliciously fresh appetizer, we ordered this dish again. Surprisingly, they tasted slightly different, perhaps because of the different toppings used? We weren’t sure, as fresh as this dish went, we were kinda disappointed that it didn’t live up to our expectations, like certain things were missing to prevent us from saying “Damn, it’s GOOD!”.

We were so excited when this dish came sizzling hot. The fragrant itself was so appetizing that we couldn’t wait to plunge onto them, except that we had to capture the glory first! The first bite was really memorable, that’s because the outer bacon roll that’s been fried to perfection was literally a masterpiece itself, I mean who could resist bacons! (Don’t forget to dip into the tartar sauce too!) The inner part, where all the fats were; was less palatable. I wasn’t used to the texture and found it sleazy. I had to separate them away in the end because I couldn’t stomach it.

Grilled to perfection on the outside; tender and juicy on the inside; each bite into the pork shoulder feels like an aromatic therapy itself! I especially love to have them together with the mashed potatoes. The taste blend so well you could feel every inch of the meat bursting with all sweet-scented spices used to marinate this. All the long hours taken just to make sure the meat is well seasoned is worth it in the end.

Soft, juicy, delectable ribs? Tastily sweet and cutely chopped potatoes? And we have yummy grilled pepper salad too? What! It’s marinated with some exquisite whisky? This gourmet, delicately prepared just for your pleasure, we can’t resist it, nope! So forget about saving up your money as this treat will make your penny worthwhile. ;)

To be honest, this tasted like an ordinary bolognese with extra cheese. The pork shoulder ham was really nice though, the meat was tender and easy to the mouth. I wouldn’t say that this dish was awesomely good, but it was still pretty fine, nothing to complain about.

Ever since Baskins Robbins removed Rum & Raisin from their menu, it’s pretty hard to find one that’s decent. At El Cerdo however, they make sure that the quality of their food is top notch and as a result, you get this heavenly dessert. The scrumptious ice-cream is irresistible; once in the lips, you couldn’t stop digging in for more and more. This is definitely one of the best Rum & Raisin I have ever come across and on top of that, they are so generous with their portion. You could totally share this plate with 4 people or more without needing to control your intakes much. ;)
Oh, don’t get me started on the fluffy pancakes, they compliment each other so well. I would definitely return just because they serve this dessert.

One of the disturbing thing that I must mention is that I feel like I have entered a pig morgue. I understand that El Cerdo means PIG, and their main dishes are all pork, but seriously, with all the cute, adorable pigs and piglets as decorations, staring down at you while you are munching away your food which could only be made from the sacrifice of some innocent pigs’ lives which probably haven’t lived even up to a month?… I am not sure, but I find it extremely disturbing…\
I have no doubt when it comes to the quality of food served by El Cerdo, after all it’s one of the higher end restaurants around the area. I have enjoyed most of the dishes and felt that even though the prices stated in the menu could blow one’s mind away in the first glance, you wouldn’t feel so much of the money pain after the food comes as they are pretty generous in their portions and not forgetting the quality and taste, so the money you pay for is pretty worth it.

Star of the day, Roasted Suckling Pig, pratically every table ordered this.
Captain approach us with a plate in his hand, asking who want to be next lucky guy and my lovely refuse so I have to do it.
Captain share with us the story behind and guide me through the process, few chops on the suckling pig and throw the plate into one wooden box, whoever did that will have luck next.
After the whole process, captain brought back to the kitchen and the chef make a few more cut before it served.

I've heard so much stories of this infamous roasted suckling pig from El Cerdo! And all of them are true! When served with this dish, one will need to use a plate, make a wish and throw it into a bucket. Then use the broken plate and cut through the pig from the middle and 2 times from the sides. The waiter will then bring the whole plate back into the kitchen and cut the pig into edible pieces.Although it could be just a gimmick but it actually works to bring in the crowd and spread the word! Although it could be just a gimmick but it actually works to bring in the crowd and spread the word! When serve, it's too much even for 6 adults and 2 kids. But the most important of it all, it's DAMN DELICIOUS! It's the most delicious suckling pig that I've ever tasted! It pwns all those served in chinese restaurants. This is not only meaty but the skin is crispy with little fat. Simply, simply delicious!

This plate of paella consist of king tiger prawns, squids and scallops with sloppy, creamy rice. It's my first time trying a paella dish too. It's said that this dish came from Spanish/Valencian heritage. It taste a bit like risotto to me but with much more flavours. The king prawns were meaty and fresh! Very nice! Scallops were ok and squids were quite tangy too. The over all dish is very interesting to me and it triggers me to try other paella dishes next time.

Believe me, this is part of the appetizer too, belonged to the warm appetizer menu. And it's huge! The platter came with german mini sausages skewers, el cerdo’s Farmer Sausage and 4 different mini sausages. My favourite would be the mini sausage skewers cuz each of them were wrapped with bacon. They were juicy and tender, each of them has their own flavours. It's a great dish to taste what german sausages are all about! Great for sharing too!

This is the first time I've tasted this type of dish. The base is slices of Spanish ham from Iberian pigs. Served with rock mellon balls and greens with nuts. This appetizing combination exploded in my mouth with so many different first-time-in-my-mouth flavours. It's slightly salty, sweet, sour and crunchy all at the same time! A very appetizing dish to start the night! A must try!

The appetizer of the night was the caesar salad. It came in a big plate enough to feed 6-8 hungry mouths. The salad was filled with slices of strong tasting cheese. The cheese compliments the pieces of leaves very well together with the creamy sauce. To top it off, crispy bacons were sprinkled on the salad. The crispy bacon provides saltiness to the entire plate of salad. The combination of the bacon and cheese makes the greens so much more easier and nicer to eat for a carnivore like me
