Din Tai Fung at the Gardens, Mid Valley is a chinese cuisine restaurant that serves variety of cantonese style delights. Shanghainese Drunken Chicken A Shanghainese dish that is served cold, with chicken pieces marinated in alcohol beverage- the Shao Hsing Rice Wine and Nu’er Hong. The concoction of chicken pieces and rice wine is surprisingly good with tender chicken pieces drown richly in wine flavor and the skin being silky, velvety.

Then the rice is not so soggy, which I enjoy the most. It is rich in egg flavours, and aromatic from the spring onions. Overall, the simple lunch is good here. Recommended.

This was listed as my top favourite list for chinese cuisine restaurant . They were famous for the XIAO LONG Bao.Every time i visit i have to take a long queue before i get to sit inside. But when i get to taste the yummy delicious soup flow out from the small little " dumpling" , i feel that the queue was worth while. The soup was so sweet and delicious . When eat it togather with shredded ginger and Chinese black vinegar sauce, the savour of meaty and juicy 'xiao long bao' is filling your mouth

This is Sze Chuan Ramen, which is very famous in China. I love the soup and if you dont like to have the noodles, you can just order the sweet and sour soup.

There is still a lot of Chinese cuisine which is nice such as pork rib fried rice

and salted egg with pumpkin which you should try!

Some people complains that the variety of food is little compared to other Chinese cuisine restaurant. To me the food was awesome and the service was good !

Xiao Long Bao is a award winning delights in Ding Tai Fung. The little bao is served hot with a juicy and sweet filling. It is swevrd with shredded ginger and black vineger. It is very nice when you put the whole Xiao Long Bao as the juicy meat taste will flow in your mouth with a bite. I am just loving the xiao long bao juiciness and the sweet soup with the tender meat with it.

One of their famous dish at here is their siu long bao. It is actually another version of dumpling with soup in it. So the best way to eat it is to put that dumpling on spoon instead of just use chopstick. After you take the first bite, suck all the soup in the dumpling. The soup is so tasty. Then add on some ginger slices to eat it.

I don't know about you, but for me, the first picture that comes to mind when the word "dim sum" is mentioned is the image of a coffeeshop setting, oily floor, tables packed with Chinese families sipping tea and taking small plates of siew mai or fishballs from waiters who go around with huge wooden round trays of food.So a place like Din Tai Fung will always strike the impression of being 'high-class' for me.. So a place like Din Tai Fung will always strike the impression of being 'high-class' for me.. Definitely a place to bring your bosses or clients if you want to impress them.. but not for older chinese folk as they may feel out of place with the whole setting!

Anyhow, on to the food... this place is really famous for their Siew Loong Pau

This is a MUST-HAVE if you're trying this place for the first time cuz its their signature dish that will have you coming back for more!

However, this time around my sister and I decided to try out other items on their menu so we ordered the House Special Appetizer

It looks good and all but it doesn't sit well with my taste buds... So I won't recommend this one..

But the House Special Tofu is simply yummy in its simplicity!

The tofu is well cooked with bits of seaweed on the top and the mushroom that accompanies it is juicy and succulent! Also, it comes with a bed of vege hidden at the bottom, so if you're going for this, you don't need to order a separate dish of vege anymore! But then, since its the first time we tried this, we didn't know about the hidden vege.. so we ordered the Stir-Fried Spinach with Garlic

You can't really go wrong with green vegetables, so no comments here.

Another one of their famous dishes here is actually the La Mian (hand pulled noodles) so I ordered the Shrimp Pork Wanton La Mian

which I couldn't finish because the portion was amazingly huge! But the wantons are worth every cent you pay for it!

Overall, the tab came up to RM50++ for the two of us. Pretty pricy for brunch, but if you're with the right company and you appreciate the atmosphere, there's not much that is not to like about this place!

We started the meal with the chicken soup. With generous amount of chicken meat and stew for long, the soup tastes really sweet, and most importantly you won't feel thirsty after drinking it. We then tried the famous xiao long bao. It is quite nice, the skin of the bun is not too thick. Also, both the minced meat and the soup are well done too. The salted egg yolk prawn is the best dish of the night. The prawn is slightly deep-fried and well-coated with the salted egg yolk. Very tasty to eat wit

The pork chop with fried rice is quite ordinary. The pork chop is a bit dry, I'm sure I can find a better one elsewhere.

To end the dinner, we had the yam paste with ginko. The yam paste is rich and it tastes yummy when it's served hot.

Whenever there is Din Tai Fung, there will be "Xiu Loong Bao" (Steamed meat dumpling) or their infamous Noodle Soup with Fried Pork Chop and Pork Chop Fried Rice but there is one appetizer which is worth talking about. I could say that it is my favourite! The cold cucumber must be eaten right after it is served so that you could taste and feel the chill of cucumber that would cool your senses. Do not ever leave it to get warm as it will spoil the whole dish. It is slightly spicy due to the thin layer of chilli oil coated on top and mostly very refreshing, sweet and a great starter before your main dish. It really opens up your appetite.
