Daorae has the cheapest and most worth it Korean food ever. So we came here since we are on low budget.

As usual, my friend ordered the Tofu Kimchi Soup (RM 20). This time it was a bit oily but still ok. There was a lot of onions. The portion was also much more than the Korean place at One Subang.

I ordered the fish pollack soup (RM 20), my first time having fish in my whole Korean food experience in my whole life. The fish pollack actually turned out to be dried fish or what the chinese would call salty fish. But it was not salty at all. The fish was very fresh too and quite tasty, except dried fish did not suit my pallate much as I prefer the normal fish or raw Japanese sashimi. The soup had just kimchi cabbage with the fish and Japanese bean sprouts. The bean sprouts were so fat and fresh. The outcome of the soup was a smooth taste.

Each set comes with a bowl of Korean rice which would otherwise cost RM 5 if ordered separately.

The barley wheat tea is free here. And every table has one tupperware of it.

After the meal, each patron is served a cup of sweet drink. I did not like the taste as it was too sweet.

There were 8 side dishes such as :

1. Radish Kimchi
2. The traditional cabbage kimchi
3. Fishcake/Pancake - dislike
4. Spinach - OK, not oily
5. Potato Slices with kimchi taste - quite ok
6. Fresh fat bean sprouts - tasty
7. Mayonaise macaroni salad with cucumber slices - thank god the mayonaise was not as thick as the one at section 14 PJ
8. Kacang Botol with Korean paste - the best and so fresh

The place was so full of people that I saw a family waiting for a table outside the restaurant! I am definitely bringing my BFF here next time round.

When I first saw this place, it gave the feeling of somewhere very posh and expensive but decided to try it nevertheless. The ambience is very cosy and quiet, suitable for any type of gathering. We sat at the low table where we cook sit like traditional Koreans but without folding our legs. Couples could actually play kicking legs too!

There was a bottle of cold Korean tea given to each table.

We ordered the Kimchi soup (Soon-dubu-j jigae) with one rice. The soup was quite ok but a tad too salty. The best part is this RM 20 soup dish and also another dish came 9 big side dishes! Even the pumpkin side dish was quite ok.

The Bulgogi beef glass noodles (RM 22) was not just glass noodles with a little beef but it was more beef with a little glass noodles as ingredient! The portion was so much and sadly, my friend did not eat beef so I had to takeaway some of it.

After we have finished our food, we were surprised when served with complimentary cold barley (which was quite sweet) and also a slice of watermelon each!

I would say this is a place worth a visit when we are looking for reasonably priced place which still has the ambience! The service was also impeccable as the waiters are always ready to serve!

I have said this so many times but I really think it is important for a Korean restaurant to have good side dishes. So what really disappoint me is that the sides weren’t charming anymore. Good thing the O-Jing-Er-So-Myun (sliced squid with assortment of vegetables stir-fried in spicy chili sauce, served with noodles) noodle was scrumptious although I wish they would be more generous with the seafood. But it tasted amazing while sharing with my friends. I really love how Korean meals enhance the communal feel on the Korean dinner table.

The kimchi tastes a little disappointing as it lacked spicy kick that it should have. Others tasted pretty much average. Seaweed soup was the best- served with just the right hot temperature, fragrant from the konbu and well seasoned with the addition of soft seaweed. I enjoyed that the most.

I spotted minced garlic in the broth and chilli powder, which gave fragrant and extra kick. I will prefer if leaner pork belly slices were added instead most of them contained more fats. Overall it was quite a good Korean stew.

This came with mushrooms, beansprouts, spinach, seaweed, egg and rice, served with Gochujang sauce separately. Not sure about the red colour ingredient in the rice though. Add in the sauce and give it a good mix.

I find that the sauce lacked sweetness that I prefer other than it being spicy enough. The various colourful ingredients added crunchy and soft texture to the fluffy rice, with a little burnt rice which I enjoyed quite a lot. However, the whole dish was a little too dry. I prefer other bibimbap as it is more moist with more Gochujang sauce, better tasting as well.

The aforementioned drink issoju, a clear potent spirit made from rice, with a taste akin to both sake and vodka. Soju is normally drunk straight from shot glasses, although it can be mixed with beer or juices.. i KINDA LOVE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE TOO! ;P

Totally unique, and with a somewhat iconic appearance, this spicy dish is served like some kind of wheel of fortune using a plethora of different ingredients in varying color, almost always topped with a golden yellow yolk. Given the amount of banchan that never get finished in most of the Korean restaurants, bibimbap makes economical sense, using all the leftovers to form a new dish. Any number of banchan can be used in bibimbap and it generally accepted that the more there are , the better it is. These vegetables are loaded onto a bed of rice, then topped with flaming red, spicy gochujang (red chili paste) All the ingredients in Bibimbap are meat to be mixed together thoroughly before eating. My favorite part of eating Dolsot is you get to eat the charred rice cooks on the bottom. Crispy and golden, and the dish stays warm throughout the meal.

Look at that runny yolk!! Yummm~ *quickly mix it together and chomp it!!!
