Big Breakfast from British Malaya Coffee House. It has scrambled eggs, baked beans, sausage, hash browns, bacon and a slice of grained bread. The portion of this meal is quite big, I can't finish it. The scrambled eggs quite smooth. Bacon is just nice not overcooked but slightly salty. Personally, I would prefer the hash brown to be fried longer. Overall the taste is delicious.

It was hunger pangs after movie that got my boyfriend and I hunting for food at 12 in the morning. With limited choices of eateries operating after 10pm, we decided to pay The British Malaya Coffee House in SS2 a visit.

I ordered Hawaiian Chicken Pizza and a glass of hot barley. Toast with Kaya & Butter and a glass of hot milk tea for him.
Simplest dishes and how could it ever go wrong. Oh boy, they got us by surprise.

First came the Toast with Kaya & Butter. Decent portion of toast (slice of 2, halved) and a slap of kaya with mini sized packet of butter. Not sure if they got the serving of kaya and butter right but it was just right for one slice. So we asked for extra butter. The waiter walked up to us and told us there is an additional charge of RM0.50 for butter. We thought we heard him wrong but apparently you are made to pay extra if you cant ratio your toast with kaya and butter right. It was not even stated on their menu.

Our drinks came second. My hot barley was dead warm, almost cold. Didnt flip table because I believe I can live without hot drink on a cold night.

And then my Hawaiian Chicken Pizza came. I was expecting it to be just like the TV commercial. Piping hot with melted cheese and the right ingredients. Sigh, it was the 3rd slap within 20 mins of our stay. Pizza came warm. After further inspection, we have concluded it was some instant frozen pizza with topping of THEIR choice (dried chicken, dry herbs, cubed capsicums). The ingredients just didn't "mingled".

The milk tea was okay though. But that didn't pull our mood up from the few horrible mistakes they made. We paid for our food and left. In the car, my bf asked for the receipt so he could snap pictures and bitch about our experience with British Malaya Coffee House. And he discovered mother of all mistakes - they double charged us for the milk tea!! We thought at least there is good in them but voila, they punched us from the back without us realizing it.

Anyway if you feel like getting cheated, drop by at The British Malaya Coffee House in SS2

 This no-pork eatery is pretty packed on a weeknight. Service is prompt and prices are fair; we might not return, but we're glad we came.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich

I passed by this restaurant one day while hunting for a place to get my lunch and decided to try it as it looked cosy. The setting was simple but there was a homey feel about the place. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich since I wanted something light. It was pretty decent, the chicken was sufficiently tender and the portion was average. The wheat sandwich bread was fresh and so were the lettuce and tomatoes. Perhaps the saving grace is the generous amount of mayonnaise that was used.
