Botanical's version of gado-gado comprised tempeh, tofu, cucumber, jicama (Mexican yam/turnip), carrots, cabbage, long beans, kangkung, bean sprouts (taugeh), nasi himpit, hard boiled egg, and peanut sauce. Really wholesome and high-fibre, but I found it quite bland. The peanut sauce is supposed to be spicy but it wasn't. Overall, the dish lacked any sweetness, saltiness, or sourness. I guess maybe this is a bit too healthy... and tasteless.

Burnt butter wild mushroom and brie cheese salad - oh how irresistible it sounds. A very healthy choice for my lunch, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. The dressing was a sort of balsamic dressing, which I usually enjoy very much, but this was too cloyingly sweet. Plenty of mushroom, brie cheese, and arugula (rocket) made it very filling, but just because of the overly sweet dressing, it was ruined.

Botanical Restaurant is located at Jalan Telawi Satu. The staff working there are very polite and helpful. One of the thing attracted me is that the food are creative and delicious. It is different compared to normal vegetarian restaurant. I had tried Salt And Chilli Tofu Tempura served by Botanical Restaurant. It is very delicious. It is perfect to eat Salt And Chilli Tofu Tempura with Thai Chili Sauce.

For this I didn't quite catch the name of it, hence I named it the Sugary Cream Puff. But I could have just name it Awful Cream Puff. It was indeed awful on many levels. First, it was coated with sugar. I mean okay, fine, still edible. We poked it a little, then tore it a little to get a glimpse of how it looked like inside. And what it was was some unidentified cream stuff. Eww, it tasted horrible so we ended up not eating that.

Like many other food trends around, the mille crepe cake created quite a trend which was first sparked by Nadeje, in Malacca. Having eaten the ones at Nadeje, which is almost undoubtedly one of the best ones around, I must say that I have had pretty high standards for this. And true enough, I was massively disappointed by the thick chunky layers of the cake. So disappointing.

Macaroons are the loveliest pastry trend to hit Kuala Lumpur, and I have seen many cafes serving them. I have also heard where to get the best macaroons in town. Since I was here at Botannical, I decided to just give it a try and I was dismayed. First, by the overwhelming and overpowering sweetness, and the second by the completely artificial flavour from it.

I love love love love love love mushrooms, if I could type love 100 times, I would. But then again, you get my point. So this was actully love at first sight to me. To have and to see a whole chunky layer of delicious mushrooms just waiting to be eaten is just too awesome. Eating it was even better, because it was served on a bed of multiple layers pastry. Reminds me of those like the croissant.

I didn't get the name for this, but it does looks like bread served with egg and mayo. Much similar to the normal egg sandwich. I am a huge fan of eggs, and I love eggs sandwiches the most. So, this looks somewhat similar to the ones I am used to except that this was richer, pretty rich creamy served on a soft, yet crispy fluffy bread. There are chunks of egg white as pictured because they didn't smash the eggs very finely.

Bangsar Village isn't exactly my ideal place to go to when I'm hunting for good food but I have heard that they are many cafes around the place that do serve high tea. So, as it happened my friends and I stumbled into Botannical because they have one of the most gorgeous interior that I have ever seen. It was designed to look like we're in the gardens drinking tea and that was excatly how it felt like. The high tea set was however, quite disappointing.

The pasta came with a Italian bread, which was delish; warm, fluffy and crispy.

I would actually order just the bread the next I am there, if I ever go back there.

This is a new restaurant here. Well at least it is quite new to me. If not mistaken, it was T forty Two before this. I passed by and tempted by the mille crepe they displayed. I made my worst decision on that day. The cake is served with ice cream, I wonder why their ice cream took so long time only melt. That is good thing. But the mille crepe cake here isn't worth a penny. The cake is so hard and you cant really fell the texture at all.

Fruit-filled desserts are where Botanical shines (exceedingly uncommon for a vegetarian eatery). Folks jaded with creme brulee, tiramisu and creativity-shorn cakes can have their taste buds perked up by pineapple grilled with thyme-infused honey and pepper-encrusted mascarpone (!).

On paper, the chilled strawberry fruit soup with pink peppercorn ice cream and toasted buttercake croutons sounds too strange to fathom. On the plate, it tastes too terrific to forgo.

Bonus ice cream treat! Not available at Botanical, but it's worth scouting for The Last Polka's latest flavor, Pandan Kaya _ more pandan than kaya, which might make some happy. We prefer its aromatic, naturalistic taste to the powdery soy chocolate, but not as much as the cinnamon-savory French toast flavor.

Most pastas in KL offer 10 fleeting minutes of pleasure but an entire evening of guilt over the empty calories consumed. The solution might rest in this tom yam spaghetti aglio olio, spiced up subtly to speed up the metabolism and partnered with tempeh for soy-powered nutrition.

Buckwheat crepes, stuffed with spinach, ricotta and herbs and topped with tomato and buffalo mozzarella gratin. Not sure if this mushy, cheesy Italian-inspired treat rates as wholesome, but it sure tastes like something a lasagna-lover would relish.
