Can you believe it that I had wanted to come here in my two years of living in Kelana Jaya but have never actually made it here, always for the reason that the queue would be too long? Yes it is true! There would always be something cropping up that prevents me from eating here till today.

This time I brought my friend who stays and works in Wangsa Maju to try the food here. Luckily we were early at 7 pm on a Wednesday but there was still a crowd inside, in fact most of the tables inside were full! I could not believe my eyes.

When I saw the menu and saw the prices like RM 18 for a spaghetti, I knew why there were so many customers eating here.

The ambience is also very good for friends, families and couples to hang out. There were pigs everywhere, from the pictures of pigs on the walls to pig figurines on the counter and also on top of the kitchen counter. It was as though I were in piggy world.

I proclaimed to my friend that I have been cruel by ordering the cute little piggy-the famous Grilled Beer Boston Butt (RM 33.90) which was actually pork shoulder supposedly braised in beer for 3-4 hours, sliced and grilled. It was served with the world's most non-solid mashed potatoes which looks more like a whole lot of cheesy gravy instead of mashed potato. The green peas were very fresh. The downside is that I could not taste any beer in the pork. Also, the pork turned out not as tender as described by the waiter. There was no taste of beer at all inside. For a non-pork lover,  I would say that at least the pork could still be cut with a knife easily although not as tender as initially thought. There is overflowing of too salty sauce on top of the meat and cheesy sauce on top of the mashed potatoes. I feel they should put less salty sauce in smaller quantity.

My friend ordered the Aglio Olio (RM 18) with mushrooms and bacons. We both felt that it lacks strong flavours that usually comes with Aglio Olio. The only good thing is that is was not as oily as the ones I normally eat. There was not much flavour from the bacon too.

I love the Stewart's classic lime soda which was so amazing with the fizzy taste yet it maintains its lemon flavour.

The restaurant definitely worth trying as the dishes just taste absolutely good. The interior of the restaurant is cosy and the service is fast and good. Cold water is complimentary. I personally love the mash potato with its gravy and the classic meatloaf!

The chops was very juicy and tender. Oh,and the gravy.... The mash potatoes completely won me over, it had a little cheesy taste (and I think that's how a great mash potatoes should be). I wish they were more on my plate!

I think the apple was too gooey and the cinnamon was too strong for me. Too much syrup and it made the dessert too sweet because the other ingredients are already sweet, but the syrup just made it unbearable. Though I have no problem with the little crumbles as they were munchy on it's own.
Personally, I think I would like this very much if only they didn't use the cinnamon syrup to coat the apple.

After all these years, Betty's Midwest Kitchen is really keeping it consistent with their quality. This burger takes 20 minutes to prepare upon order, and you're usually warned of such, in case you're not the patient type. The pork is super juicy, and dangerously loaded with super molten (HOT!!!) cheese.Lemonade is sweet and really good.

The Classic Meat Loaf is probably a must order every time I visit them. I love the combination of those peas and freshly mashed potato with chicken gravy. As much as I try not to have too much minced meat or mix mashed meat, I couldn’t quite resist this because the meat has got a right texture that is not too hard or mushy, and obviously tasty as well.

Also served with it is some caramelized onion, and this slightly and supposedly chili sauce to go with the meat. This sauce tasted somewhat similar to a diluted tobacco with some sugar in it as well, if you know what I mean. It wasn’t fiery hot, but mildly and tingling spicy on top of slight sweetness. Made a good compliment to the dish, but you can omit the sauce actually.

This place is like a pork haven where you get all the best pork dishes. The Pork Chop with Chicken Gravy is great in proportion for a moderate eater. Not too filling and by the time you are almost done with it, you would slowly feel the food in your stomach already. Although it looks small, the amount is just right. I’d like to see more vegetable with it but the combination of everything on this is great. It was moist enough to not feel too relenting rich with fats and oil.

If you like something a bit more solid, try the Baby Back Rib or the Pork Belly. Solid meat served with some fries and very little vegetable. The sides weren’t that impressive all in all, but it shouldn’t overtake the attention of the main in the dish in this case the meat. Both serve equally tender and succulent meat.

Of course the lazier choice of menu would be the Sausage Platter which I am not quite a big fan of it. It is subjected to personal preference really, but if you are a fan of those Taiwan sausages, this one has got quite similar texture, which I haven’t liked the oily dash that squeezes from every chew. This one doesn’t have that much oil, but again this is subjected to different individual.

While Betty's is famous for its pork burgers (rightfully so; even since the days long before pork burgers or even burgers were a "thing"), they proudly offer many other pork dishes that stand its equal. Among them, my favourite being the soft-bone ribs. You know the part of the ribs where the cartilage is? Yeap, that's the one! Soft, juicy, sweet. If you're a fan of cartilage, there's plenty of that to chomp on; but I'm a more "normal" and only eat the meat - of which there is also plenty. While

If you're a fan of cartilage, there's plenty of that to chomp on; but I'm a more "normal" and only eat the meat - of which there is also plenty.

While the restaurant does feel a little rushy (you get in, you get seated, you get served, you get full, you get the bill, you get out), time seems to move slower when I'm having their soft-bone ribs. It's served with a cup of gravy, but I find myself torn between enjoying the meat in its unadulterated form, or with the super savoury gravy (I usually end up having most of it on its own, and then using the gravy for my fries).

So we've got gravy, and we've got fries - so why not order some FRIES WITH GRAVY and go CRAZY? Boldly dubbed "Dog Food", this is Betty's response to KFC's Cheesy Wedges - except far more enjoyable, and in a far larger serving portion. Don't wait for it to get cold, though, as the cheese tends to clump up. The fries are soft and the cheese is abundant and gooey. The sauce tastes creamy - I can't put my finger on exactly what it is; but I know it's something that goes great with potatoes and perhaps even a chicken chop (which you shouldn't bother ordering at Betty's, because pork is king here).

Special mention for their lemonade! I rarely order drinks anywhere, but at RM2.50, it's great value and tastes really good. To put it into context, it is cheaper and tastier than some drinks at many food courts or coffee shops!

We ordered this out of desperation to stay longer for chit-chatting. Mental note, Betty's is NOT a place to chit-chat. You will be 'chased' away by giving menus for more ordering or just blatantly telling you that there are many people waiting outside. Well, I suppose it's not fair to hog the seats but then again I have never been 'ushered' away in other restaurants before like here. This is one apple crumble that looks very different to the ones that I've tried. This particular one did not come with a crust! Instead, it was sprinkled with crumbs on top of the sweetened apple slices! What a way to present the crumbles! I really love it together with the fresh ice cream, if only it didn't melt so easily. The apples were sweet and warm, must mix with the crumbles for more flavors and texture in your mouth. Will try this again on my next visit.

Woweee... one of the most classic, comforting, home-style American heartlands soups at Betty Midwest must be their Roasted Chicken Onion Soup. The chicken shreds are tender, and flavored the soup really well alongside an assortment of veges including chopped carrots and of course, lots and lots of Onions. Good for the soul, nutritious for the body too. Plus it comes with 2 pieces of garlic bread....

Apparently this particular dish is very popular among Betty's Midwest Kitchen's customers. I guess the main draw must be the unique sounding "Orange Cream".. hmmm wondering what that must have taste like? Not that "orange-y" to be honest; but delicious nonetheless The pork chop was well marinated and coated with spiced flour perfectly before being deep fried and then later drenched with delicious orange cream. Yums Plus it has ample sidelines of green peas too!

If you're wondering how good ol' American mid west (heartlands) cuisine taste like, look no further than Betty's Midwest Kitchen From the cute "homely" photo decos and the warm blue-red ambient (colors of the American flag!) right down to it's classic yet delicious offerings; Betty Midwest Kitchen does succeed somewhat in bringing the charms of the American countryside to us Malaysians. Creamy pork chop is the dish that I find it unique here in Betty's kitchen. Cream wise, you will get to choose different type of sauces and it served with two big piece of pork cutlets with green peas. Just nice for taste bud and that is not really salty or sweet. However, be aware of the creamy sauce because your tastebud will get a little bore after too much of sauce. Overall very good.

Pulled-pork burger from Betty's is another famous pork meal there in the restaurant. It came in french fries, country salad/coeslaw and the famous pulled pork burger. The burger is special as the pork pulled pork was slowly roasted and braised in their homemade special sauce. I love their sauce! However, the whole set is still ok compared to the rest of the awesome dish from their menu.
