A visit to the Ben's Independent Grocer is never complete without my dessert affair at the Ben's Bake Shop.The bake shop offer a variety of baked goods on display as well as signature plated desserts such as churros, toasts and klonuts.Upon glancing through the menu and the displayed goods, I made up my mind and decided to have the cheesecake donuts and gula melaka friand.Friands are basically small french cake, and this one here had an Asian twist to it. The use of gula melaka and coconut in bringing a richer flavor to the friands. It had a nice crisp texture on the exterior while light and fluffy on the inside.It goes well with a cup of tea, in my opinion. On the other hand, the cheesecake donut is actually creamy cheese fillings stuffed in plain donuts. It was neither too sweet nor cloying. I felt that it could lend some caramel sauce to complete it.
