I finished work very late today. Since my friend has been craving for steamboat, I finally decided to forgo my late night supper restrictions on condition that we ate in a cafe nearby, not in Kepong like the original plan! The minimum number for the steamboat was RM 16 per person, meaning RM 32 for the whole set meal which came with a variety such as white cabbage, yao ma salad vegetables, fishballs, meatballs (porky ones), some other sorts of yong tau fu, tofu, fu chuk, beancurd etc. The steamb

Grilled chicken wings. The chicken wings came with a plate of dipping sauce. This dipping sauce was tangy and not spicy at all. The chicken wings were grilled nicely with the side parts being burnt. It was covered with a coat of honey, hence the sweetness in it. The chicken was tender and juicy, not dry at all. All of us complimented these chicken wings. Will order it again next time.

Fried meehoon with fish head. We were deciding whether to go with lala meehoon or the fish head meehoon. Since we could seldom find fish head meehoon, we went for the latter. The fried meehoon was fried with garlic, thus it has strong garlic taste. The fish head was being deep fried and it does not has fishy taste. The meehoon has just the nice moisture, not too salty.

Tomyam Broth. Since we chose the pork bone soup, we dropped the clear soup and chose tomyam broth instead. I was very anticipating for a good tomyam broth. Once I took a scope of the soup, it was a mixture of sourness at first. However, it has a weird after-taste for me and I find it not too delightful. Therefore, I did not drink the soup but just to boil the ingredients in it to get some tanginess.

Pork Bone Broth. There were three choices of broths, which are clear soup, tomyam and pork bone broth. We chose the pork bone broth for an additional RM8. Since it was half compartment, the broth was already filled with ingredients when it was served. There was very limited space for us to add on ingredients. The broth consisted of sweet corns, carrots, red dates and two big pork bones. It was filled with pork bone essence and very nice to drink, just the right amount of saltiness.

Pork Slices. Apart from the set steamboat ingredients that we ordered, we added on the pork slices as pork slices are good companion for shabu-shabu. The pork slices were cut until very long and slightly thick. It was a well mix of fats and lean meat. I swished one slice of the pork slice into the pork bone broth. The moment I ate it, the "pork smell" was too strong for my liking. I did not take a second piece.
