Our 3 favourite orders in any Ayam Penyet restaurant have got to be the ayam penyet drumstick, gado gado and bakso. Crispy fried crushed chicken is so good that you can even eat it on its own, without any rice. The ayam penyet platter has - cucumber, slices of very thick raw cabbage that I don’t eat, fried tofu and tempe, blanched kangkong and a bowl of soup. The sambal is usually super spicy for my tastebuds so I will just take tiny bit of sambal to go with the chicken. I just love the crispy bumbu bits toppings on ayam penyet, super crispy! The gado gado is a plate of diced cucumbers, tofu, blanched cabbages, taugeh, shredded lettuce, diced boiled potatoes, and with a lot of fried shallots sprinkles and assorted crackers drenched in sweet peanut sauce!! Almost equivalence of salad but with crackers, yay! Bakso is a bowl of beef balls with beefy broth and chicken slices, bihun and lots of fried shallots. The bakso here is good, the soup flavorful and the meatballs not rubbery. We need a branch here in PJ! continue reading
