Restoran Lan Je is my kaiye's favourite makan place whenever he’s in Rawang for business meeting.we were there at off-peak hour, still it’s packed to the brim.Steamed Tilapia | RM 14.50 onwardsthis is their signature dish! steamed tilapia drenched in soy sauce (and some other secret sauces i think) with loads finely chopped garlic, ginger, chilli padi decorated with julienne spring onion. yesh, tilapia is the only fish available here.the fish was berry fresh. flesh remained soft, and the slightly spicy sauce really complement the flesh berry well, not too overpowering! ngam ngam hou if you don’t know, the fish is not meant to be shared. one per person, that’s how people enjoy the fish wholly.we also ordered a plate of green to makan together with the fish!i have been here few times, and their quality has always been consistent. Kaiye said the one at Kota Damansara was not so delicious though. so yeah, head down right here if you want the best steamed fish! continue reading

continue reading

Restaurant Lan Je is located at Rawang, and it is kinda hard to find because it is just beside the main road and you may be drive very fast and already passed by of the restaurant when you saw it. I like the taste of fish, it is very smooth and no fishy smell. The chicken gu lu yok is very nice also, it is cooked with sweet and sour. Go and try it guys continue reading

continue reading

I have heard about this restaurant from a lot of friends and finally I tried it at their flagship stall in Rawang. This is a simple and limited seating shop along Jalan Rawang which is quite inconspicous enough. There was nothing much in terms of decor that will indicate that this is a popular restaurant except for the huge crowds especially on weekends and holidays. The restaurant serves only one type of fish which is the Tilapia Fish and it is done in only one version; steamed with ginger and garlic. However, they have other dishes that you may order to go with rice. But since the owner recommends that everyone should have one fish to themselves and every table seemed to be doing just that, I decided to follow suit. There really wasn't much I could critique about the steamed fish here. It is simply tasty, not just because the fish was fresh but also due to the mixture of soy sauce with ginger and garlic which really brings out the natural sweetness of the flesh. Normally river fishes has a mud taste to their flesh which is hard to get rid of but they somehow have a way to do away with that really well. The flesh is still soft and succulent, steamed just right, not over or under. Each fish is between RM15-RM20 and is definitely worth trying. continue reading
