7th Mile Kitchen is quite popular among the Sarawakians. In fact I was introduced to this place by a few of my Kuching friends. So when my sister came back to Malaysia for a short visit (even when she already booked a few days trip back to Sarawak anyway), we went and had our fix of our favourite dishes. My mum used to live in the area so she actually has been there quite a few times. We ordered a few dishes to try: (Clockwise) Sarawak Laksa, Kuching Kolo Mee, Sarawak Tomato MeeThe Sarawak Laksa
The Kuchong Kolo Mee is much better. The noodles are aromatic with pork lard, cooked to perfection with a slight bite. The ratio of the toppings:noodles was pretty good too, with enough minced pork to coat the noodles and char siew to provide that extra sweetness. Delicious.
My sister prefers her Tomato noodles to be crispy while I usually prefer the Kueh Tiaw version, so I didn't try this dish. It tasted authentic and tangy according to her.
Next time I go, I will just stick to the kolo mee. Just a tip too, if you order the kolo me to take away the portion would be slightly larger (speaking from experience, haha). The Sarawak Laksa broth also thickens a bit more if you do take away (just like how curries and stews tastes better the next day), so you might want to consider this as an option.
