Rare Food Finds! Serdang’s Tradition Prawn Cracker & Economy Fried Noodles, Rice & Tong Sui Stall!

There are so many food around Serdang but what makes it special? Not just that it has been operating for a long period of time, it is indeed a rare find as it sells some old school style prawn crackers, fried sweet potato balls, fried noodles or tong sui to enjoy from.

You Qi Lao Restaurant 



Not sure what is a fried ‘You Qi’, it is actually a snack that is made from turnips and dried shrimps and then added into the starch and fried under the hot oil, topped with a prawn on top and eaten with the special homemade chili sauce!


Located at Serdang, it has been passed to its second generation and continues operating for more than 30 years here. usually a lot of patrons coming back for more as they are improving the ingredients for a better taste too. Tedious work, but the owner insisted on making it so that the patrons can still enjoy them until now!


Cut it in half and then enjoy the crispiness outer layer of it, inside remaining warm n soft. Eaten with the chili sauce, you know one will never be enough!


If you enjoy the homemade chili sauce, it is for sale too.




Not just selling Fried You Qi, they do sell fried spring roll, sweet potato balls, fried yam slices or fried cassava slices too.





Worry overloaded with fried stuff inside your tummy? They do have the economy fried vermicelli, mee, fried rice, curry chicken, fried chicken, fish balls, and so much more to pick from the stall daily.


Tong sui? Yes, please! They do sell selected Tong sui dessert daily like ‘Fu Zhuk’ Barley, wheat porridge, sweet potato dessert and more. A great combo to match with the above food eaten!
