Well well, isn’t it interesting that we had already come to the month of August? With 7 months passed just like that, have you treated yourself something better like these food recommended from Wendy, the owner of Carpe Diem by Joie De Vivre Lass's blog? As good as it can be, you have to try them out because nothing is better than a happy tummy! (The restaurants are listed in no particular order. Some of the establishments below are not halal)

1. Olive Garden @ Mid Valley

Olive Garden is an American casual dining restaurant chain that specializes in Italian-American cuisine. Olive Garden in Mid Valley (KL) prepares their traditional Italian specialties made with only the freshest ingredients! Casual yet stylish dining environment, their interior has quite some sophisticated paintings too! Recommended food:
  • Sampler Italiano
  • - consists of lasagna fritta, calamari and shrimp scampi fritta that's perfect for sharing; Famous house salad
  • Chicken and Gnocchi
  • - tantalizingly palatable made with roasted chicken, traditional Italian dumplings and spinach
  • Smoked Mozzarella Fonduta
  • - Oven-baked smoked mozzarella, provolone and parmesan cheese, served with Tuscan bread

  • – 3 classics all on one plate - Chicken parmigiana, lasagna and fettucine Alfredo

    2. Merce & Muse Book Café @ SS15 Subang Jaya

    Wish to spend some time having a cup of Latte and some readings together? This café in Subang Jaya embrace the patrons around SS15 with its books and coffee concept and they serves vegetarian too. A cosy and serene café, the surrounding is indeed calming with melodious instrumental tunes being played at the background. Recommended food:
  • Passion Fruit
  • – Citrusy ice blended passion fruit without any sugar; therefore, you get to relish in the freshness and natural taste of the fruit tartness, which I really enjoyed!
  • Secret of Life
  • – Named as secret, we are a bit curious about the ingredients and were told there are no fixed ingredients as it changes daily. But one thing for sure, dragon fruit and lychee are part of it!
  • Mocha
  • Mocha – coffee here is decent, lovely served with a Rosetta latte art. Comes with decadent chocolaty accentuates by the coffee aroma.
  • Mushroom Spaghetti in Ginger Sauce
  • – Hot dishes can be quite limited over here. One of them is this mushroom spaghetti, healthily served with minimal garnishment.

    3. Piggy Tail @ Bangsar

    Swine lovers could now relish in their meaty craving worry-free as Piggy Tail uses only Sakura Pork! The Sakura pigs are raised the traditional way, without the use all artificial additives. Expect a rendition of east-meets-west menu when you dine here! The passionate folks behind Piggy Tail’s kitchen, also undoubtedly meat lovers who wish to present you masterful skills with premium meats that taste real, pure and unadulterated pork elaborately. It’s a popular choice back in USA and Canada, where more people love eating good and healthy pork! A good choice of Western restaurant for people who live in KL and like to eat healthy. Recommended food:
  • Pork corn
  • - Deep-fried chunks of Sakura Pork peppered with secret spices and served with Special BBQ Mayo.
  • Premium Pork Aglio Olio

  • – Juicy and literally bouncy pork shoulder cut, which you really feel and hear the ‘crisp’ sound in your every bite!

    4. Ahoy Café @ SS15, Subang Jaya

    It came as a pleasant surprise that another commendable café has sprouted up at the SS15 neighborhood recently. Embarked with a sailor-themed interior décor, Ahoy Café in Subang Jaya serves up a fairly large toothsome menu, from sandwiches, light bites to pasta, confectionary and coffee. Recommended food:
  • Caffeinated Smoked Duck
  • – Espresso marinated smoke duck salad, fresh tomatoes, sliced onions with homemade cranberry sauce.
  • Smoked Salmon Bagel
  • Smoked Salmon Bagel – Smoked salmon with cream cheese, purple cabbage, rocket leaves and pinch of capers
  • The Ultimate Wrap
  • The Ultimate Wrap – A taste of Korean with American twist of Kimchi, mayonnaise, cheese, fresh tomatoes and turkey ham are all delicately enveloped within the tortilla wrap.
  • Green Tea Café Latte
