Although Cheras is notorious for congested traffic, many Chinese delicacies can be found in this area, as the residents here are predominantly Chinese. In this article, we have invited a famous Facebook foodie, who is also the owner of a FB Page named 我来到,我吃,我分享, to share with us 5 hidden gems in Cheras that he has recently tried.

1. Grandmother Chicken Rice Restaurant @ Pandan Jaya
This chicken rice restaurant is very famous in Pandan Jaya. This Chinese restaurant's owner used to work for a well-known Hainanese Chicken Rice Shop in Singapore. The Hainanese Chicken Rice here is prepared in traditional style by using free range chicken to ensure the taste of the meat is more fragrant and the texture softer and more chewy. I ordered a plate of free range poached chicken with char siew and a plate of aromatic rice. The texture of the chicken was really good. It was very soft and smooth. Remember to eat it with the shop's specialty black soy sauce to enhance the taste!2. Traditional Vegetarian Kuih @ Pandan Jaya
This Chinese stall nestled in Restoran Pandan Jaya is one of very few stalls in KL that offer traditional handmade Chinese kuih with vegetable fillings. The stall's owner has more than 10 years of experience in making Chinese kuih. All Chinese kuih is freshly handmade by her on a daily basis. Now, four flavors are available, including yam, pumpkin, yam bean and Chinese chive. The Chinese kuih here is really delicious with fresh and delicious vegetable fillings wrapped in thin and transparent skin.3. Restoran 9888 @ Cheras Maluri
Restoran 9888 is a seafood restaurant located not far from PGRM building in KL. It has been around for over 10 years. We ordered many dishes during our last visit, and the dish that we found most impressive was the Steamed Seafood with Lime, which was prepared using a few types of fresh seafood. The soup was slightly sourish, which made the seafood absolutely appetizing! Another awesome dish was the Braised Pork Trotter. The pork trotter was cooked to perfection with meat and fat that is very soft and rich in taste.4. Mr. Chizu Cheese Cake @ Leisure Mall
When mentioned cheese cake, most people would think of the recently very popular Uncle Tetsu. Few people know that there is another equally awesome cheese cake shop called Mr. Chizu located at Leisure Mall in KL. Mr. Chizu's signature product is their freshly baked cheese cake, which is prepared with less sugar and without using any preservatives. I tried the original flavor. The texture of the cake was smooth, fluffy and very rich in cheese flavor. So delicious!5. Chee Xiang BBQ Meat @ Balakong
Chee Xiang Coffee Shop is located at a "New Village" at Batu 11 Cheras in KL. I went there to try their famous BBQ meats one day. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the red and shiny Char Siew immediately caught my attention. I ordered a plate of RM10 Char Siew and a plate of aromatic rice with chicken oil. The Char Siew was simply fantastic. The charred meat was very fragrant and the texture was firm and chewy, so tasty! If you happen to pass by Balakong, do make a visit to this stall for amazing Char Siew! Head to Cheras today to enjoy all these amazing foods! Original Source from 我来到,我吃,我分享.Other Related Topics
