9 Viral Food Items in the First Half of 2017!
2017-07-08
Time flies by so fast. We’re halfway into 2017 now! The first half of this year had been eventful on the internet. Many kinds of delicacies have been the center of multiple booms on the net — in fact, some of them were so hyped that you could see them all over your newsfeed the moment you open Facebook!

All of these delicacies are from abroad and they can be easily obtained through certain stores. Have you tried any of these? Let us know!

1. Sichuan Malak Instant Steamboat
This Chinese “instant hot pot” doesn’t require any water or electricity to get things heated up. Put all raw ingredients into the plastic bowl accordingly, pour some water into the mix and let the “heat bag” slowly cook everything. The ingredients are actually pretty generous for an instant hot pot; enough to fill up one tummy, in fact! Why not warm yourself up this way on cold weathers?

2. Chun Cui He
These Taiwanese milk teas have taken the internet market by storm. When they reached Malaysian shores, they were quickly run out! Previously, 7-Eleven only stocked three flavours, but now at the East Asian snack store Mix, you can be up to date with the latest flavours as they have brought in pretty much all the flavours available! Fans of milk tea will no longer have to drive all the way to Chatime for a quick fix of it.

3. Milo Cube
In Malaysia, there are two types of people — one belongs to the coffee side and the other to the Milo side. Well, for us, we have pretty much sold our souls to Milo. With Milo Cube, we no longer have to make ourselves a hot cup (although we wouldn’t object to that as well) whenever we crave for that malt chocolate flavour again; just unwrap one of these little booger and plop them into your mouth. Voila!

4. Siam Banana
Years ago, it was Tokyo Banana; now it’s… Siam Banana?! These little cuties come all the way from Thailand and are actually cream-filled soft cakes that are shaped like bananas. They taste like a cake version of bananas and they’re absolutely heavenly. If you’re going to Thailand soon, don’t forget to get a few extra boxes for us! Hehe.

5. Buldalk Bokkeummyeon
How many of us have watched videos of people trying this out and then dying from the heat? Don’t underestimate Korean spiciness — these noodles pack a punch. Despite the spiciness, the flavour is wonderful; meaty with hints of sweetness. If you’re able to savour these noodles without gasping for air and crying, then we applaud you. In fact, we’d like to duel with you over some extra three packs of it! Care to take up the challenge?

6. Korean Strawberry Latte
Strawberry season in Korea was just last month, but it’s never too late to jump on the bandwagon to give this drink a try! Rather than latter, this drink is actually more milk-based Bits of strawberries swim in a base of fresh milk inside the bottle, lending the milk a natural, slightly acidic and sweet strawberry aftertaste. The description is already making us thirsty. Are you, too?

7. An Mu Xi’s Yogurt
For those of you who keep up with the Chinese version of Running Man, you’re probably no stranger to this drink. An Mu Xi’s yogurt drink is extremely fragrant with the flavour and it’s very different from the yogurt drinks that we Malaysians are used to. The taste is thicker than what we’re used to, but it’s not thick enough to make people feel sick after two sips or so, with a very nice texture. A must get for all yogurt lovers!

8. Koko Krunch Bar
Step aside, Milo fans; you guys have a rival… or a best friend (whichever you pick). Koko Krunch fans are now able to savour Koko Krunch in the form of a chocolate bar! We predict they’d be the next choice of comfort food for Malaysians. Whenever you feel the need to eat something, you can now just take a Koko Krunch bar and satiate your desires through a single bite!

9. 18+ Curry Potato Chips
Mind you, there aren’t any 18+ materials in there (please look elsewhere for that!), but there are some pretty steamy curry-flavoured potato chips waiting to be devoured by you! It’s rated 18+ because word has it that they’re so spicy they could make you bend in mercy for the comfort of water. Are you able to eat them without drinking water?
