9 Places in Kuala Lumpur Offering the Best Soft-serves!
2017-05-25
Malaysia can never let us catch a break under her weather. Our “four seasons” is just summer all year. With such heat governing our everyday lives, what do you say we treat ourselves to some good ol’ soft-serves?

You might be wondering, “What’s the difference between soft-serve and ice-cream?” Frankly, both are almost the same but they’re different in that soft-serves contain more air and so, have softer textures, just as its name implies.

Kuala Lumpur is home to some good soft-serve shops. Let’s see what they have to offer!

Softsrve has been the center of rage and it’s gotten so popular they have now established a Softsrve Mini in Pavilion. That said, there’s a very good reason for that — the selection of their soft-serves is rich. One of their hottest selections is the oolong tea soft-serve; many patrons swear loyalty to its oolong-infused flavour. One bite and you can feel the refreshment of your mouth!

2. Tsujiri

Tsujiri has seen an influx of die-hard customers ever since its shop opening yesteryear. Their green tea ice-cream boasts itself in authenticity. The O-Matcha Soft-serve Ice-cream is their signature. Ask any of their frequent customers and chances are that’s the flavour they’d opt for you to go for. Even the idea of it is charming enough. Who can resist some good green tea-flavoured soft-serve anyway?

3. Hail's Soft Serve
Hail’s Soft Serve is quite the popular destination for young girls — it’s all thanks to their unique pink peppercorn soft-serve and Mediterranean-styled interiors. Their menu has expanded to include rice donut and the very unqiue waffle ice-cream whereby ice-cream and waffles are stacked on top of one another, creating a “dessert tower”, which is just as Instagram-worthy as their interiors!

4. Llao Llao

Go to any Llao Llao outlet and you’d most likely see queue. Their low-calorie yogurt soft-serve is simply rich; sour and savoury describe its taste best. We highly recommend drizzling your yogurt soft-serve in some caramelized biscuit sauce; the result will surely convince you to come back to Llao Llao again for a second round! You can also top it off with some other ingredients, including strawberries and Oreo cookies.

5. Milkcow
Originated in South Korea, Milkcow reached Malaysian shores a few years ago. Their signature milky ice-cream served with honeycombs was what attracted our attention. Nowhere else can you find ice-cream that comes with actual honeycombs! Another flavour you should totally taste is their newly released purple potato ice-cream. It’s a really special flavour and the colour is a beautiful concentrated purple; a must-try or die!

6. P.S. Tokyo

It’s almost impossible to go wrong with P.S. Tokyo’s soft-serves. Patrons do flock to them for a reason after all. Their soft-serves usually come in either green tea or roasted tea flavour, but they have recently released a new flavour as well — yuzu milkshake. We personally would recommend the green tea flavour the most, but if you’re not a green tea lover, the yuzu milkshake flavour might be more suitable for your taste buds instead!

7. Every Sundae
The soft-serves in this shop are really dreamy because they’re literally served on cotton candy, giving off an illusion of a cloud. It looks as if the soft-serve and waffles are floating! Moreover, your soft-serve is customizable at this store — choose your own type of cotton candy, toppings, waffles, etc. Go wild and create the ice-cream you’ve always want to create!

7. Nana's Green Tea
Everyone loves Nana’s Green Tea’s soft-serves! Their green tea soft-serves are rich in the flavour of green tea along with a dash of sweetness; just enough to sweeten up your mood! They’re also generous with the portions of their soft-serves and some of them are even topped off with certain ingredients, such as red beans! Throw that diet away and hog yourself some Nana’s Green Tea’s soft-serves.

8. Pablo
Pablo is famous for their cheese tarts, but don’t be fooled into thinking they’re just another cheese tart shop — they have drinks and even soft-serves to offer! The cheese soft-serve must not be missed by cheese lovers; the cheese flavour isn’t too strong and it’s just enough for it to be savoury. It couldn’t have been better! We’re sure you’d understand the feeling too once you dip your tongue into it!

9. Family Mart

Can’t afford soft-serve shops? No problem, there’s always our good friend, Family Mart! Their soft-serve is extremely cheap, clocking in at just RM2.90 per soft-serve. Their flavours are limited to just green tea, vanilla and cheese, but they’re a very good alternative for those who are on tight budget. Aside from the affordable price, its flavour and texture are what ultimately bring the customers in.
