Here, we have chosen 5 hidden gems in KL and PJ that are less known to the public. It's quite challenging to find some of them, but that’s the fun of exploring hidden food, isn’t it?

1. Flying Wanton Mee @ Seapark, PJ

Dining at this roadside hawker stall in PJ is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. After placing an order, you can see how your wanton noodles are thrown into the air to make the noodles dryer, so that it is easier for the noodles to absorb the sauce and become more flavorful. Another highlight is their char siew, which is freshly roasted by the owner daily using charcoal fire. Take a bite on this Chinese food and enjoy the fragrant meat melting in your mouth!

2. Fish Paste Noodles @ PJ Old Town

Quietly hidden at the back of a house beside 99 Speedmart at PJ Old Town, this stall is a hidden gem that only the locals know about this delicious Chinese food. The place with only 5 to 6 tables is often fully occupied, because their famous fish paste noodles are not only delicious, but also served in generous portion. The soup noodles come with three big pieces of fish paste that are freshly handmade daily. The fish paste is so fresh and bouncy that I wouldn't mind having it for breakfast everyday!

3. Little Eat Stall’s Fish Head Noodle @ Pudu

Next to Soon Fatt Beijing Roasted Duck in Pudu you will find this hidden gem hidden under a big tree called Little Eat Stall. This place is so popular among the locals that you need to wait for at least an hour for this Chinese food to arrive. They offer different dishes at different days: Fish Head Noodles on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, Ipoh Hor Fun on Monday and Tuesday, and Pork Noodles on Wednesday, so that customers wouldn’t get bored with the same dish!

4. Lian Kee Pan Mee @ Old Klang Road

Within walking distance from Scott Garden at Old Klang Road, this legendary roadside Pan Mee stall in KL is only opened at night. It has operated for more than 40 years. If you are a big fan of Soup Pan Mee, remember to top up 50 sen for additional ingredients, which include lots of mushrooms, sliced pork, minced meat, fried ikan bilis and potato leaves. The soup is a little on the oily side, but very fragrant, as lots of fried garlic and shallots are added to the soup.

5. Curry Lor Mee @ Jinjang Utara

Have you ever tried Lor Mee mixed with curry? Try this creative dish at this stall hidden in a secluded residential area in Jinjang Utara, KL. It is operated by a family in their own house. Invented by the owner’s grandfather some 20 years ago, the Curry Lor Mee is Lor Mee mixed with aromatic curry rich in santan flavor. Before you eat, remember to stir the noodles to allow the curry to blend well with the soup and make the noodles more fragrant and spicy! If you like spicy Chinese food, then you will like this!
