A real hidden gem in SS15, Subang Jaya, this pie shop sells only a few types of pies but they’re all really tasty. They have a huge board inside the shop explaining the fillings within each type of pie so you can choose easily. The owners also like to experiment and sell various sweet pastries and cakes alongside their pies so you have extra options when the sugar craving kicks in.
2. Encore Patisserie Café
You’d never expect such a delicate and refined pastry shop to be located in Taman Desa, but this place will make you feel like a prince or princess in a palace with its elegant French inspired decorations. The food here consists of pies and quiche, with selections that are vegetarian friendly like the tomato basil quiche and mushroom quiche. For meat lovers, do try their special Australian beef pie which is their specialty!
3. Ratatouille La Gourmet
Ratatouille La Gourmet is a casual dining restaurant that offers a fine dining experience. They have a delicious cottage pie that is served piping hot with a side of their namesake, Ratatouille, a French dish of vegetables cooked in tomato sauce. Also, try their apple pie which comes with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
4. A Pie Thing
A Pie Thing actually has two branches, one in Damansara Uptown and another at Sunway. They serve both sweet and savoury pies, but their savoury pies are unique as you can choose to have it with a topping of mashed potato, gravy and peas, which is their signature style.
5. Fork D World Bistro
Despite specializing in bacon and other pork dishes, this chic little bistro serves the meanest salmon pot pie ever, with a generous and never-ending amount of fresh salmon in a piping hot cream based sauce just oozing with steamy goodness. If salmon isn’t your thing, try their Chicken pie or Pork puffs which are equally hearty. They’ve got the most amazing brownies too, which are served with ice-cream.
6. Mr Pieman
If you’re in the area and don’t have a big appetite for large or heavy pies, head on over to Mr. Pieman where they have smaller pies called 3-bite pies, as well as finger pies. They also serve all their pies in a set together with salads and a warm bowl of soup.
7. Just Pie
Just Pie is actually a snack stand with several branches. They have a wide selection with a generous helping of filling in each pie. Crispy and flaky pie skin, you'll love it just from the first bite! You’ll have to come early as they tend to run out of their more popular flavors very fast.
8. La Manila Cafe
Here is a pastry shop that’s very famous among those staying in and around Taman Megah, PJ as they’ve been open for a very long time. Their wide selections of pies are warmed up in an oven for you if you’re dining in and the meat based pies are served drenched in gravy. The special thing is, each pie has a different type of gravy that complements its taste perfectly!
9. Mon Boulangerie
Even though it has a French name, Mon Boulangerie actually serves both western and local fare. They have several types of pies which are made with puff pastry, and we recommend you try the Tomyam chicken pie as it has a unique East-west fusion touch to it.
10. Pie Harbour
This pie shop originated from Penang, but they’ve opened a branch in the new Sunway Putra Mall opposite the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). Their pies are usually oblong shaped and served with a side of mashed potatoes and salad. However, you can choose to have your pie ala-carte as well. There are so many selections with chicken, beef and vegetable based fillings!
