The mixed rice dishes in Fortune Corner were pretty good. The portion was big and the quality is there. My aunt picked a fried fish, a asam fish, stir fried french beans, half a salted egg, peanuts and cucumber for the mixed rice. The cost was RM19.00. I would say the price is justifiable based on the dishes she picked. The asam fish was very tasty, and the fried fish was very big and fresh.

After collecting our food, on the way to the cashier there were a few drink dispensers. The cups are organized neatly near the dispenser for customers. I picked the guava juice. The guava juice was quite good. Although i can't tell for sure it was 100% fresh guava juice because it tasted nice. Sometimes it is hard to find good food with reasonable price tag in Genting. Perhaps one of the better place will be the Fortune Corner in the Monte Carlo Casino. Mom ordered the dry style wantan mee that comes with a bowl of soup and dumplings. Not very impressed with the taste and flavor of this dish. My mom also didn't like the taste and the texture of the noodle. Although this is a noodle specialty shop, but the noodle was the disappointment. The chicken char siew was ok. Only Mee is a noodle specialty restaurant in Genting. I must say that their price is not cheap. It is advisable to choose wisely when dining in this place in order to get the best value of your money. I picked the curry laksa as it looks promising. For my other vegetarian guests, they ordered the fried omelette. I tasted a small portion of the omelette and feels that the omelette was too salty for me. Perhaps the chef accidentally sprinkled too much salt in it. Anyway, the omelette was over cooked as there were some burnt parts and a bit too dry. Some onions were fried together with the omelette. It's a simple dish but sometimes the chef can overlooked simplicity.

For another vegetarian dish, we ordered the braised beancurd with mushroom and “seng kua”. I don’t know the appropriate name for the “seng kua” but they definitely tasted very good. The “seng kua” has a lovely apple green color, soft and tasted like cooked winter melon. This dish is braised in a sauce that similar to oyster sauce. The mushrooms absorbed all the flavors of the sauce.

All of us agreed to have more liquid in our food, and therefore we ordered the salted vegetable with beancurd soup. We love the saltiness of the soup, which came from the salted vegetable. The salted vegetable was soft and nice to eat and all the flavor of the soup came from this vegetable. There were also some tomatoes in the soup that add the sourness. Since we were driving a few hours in the car, we were all kind of “dehydrated”. The best drink to order would be the local coconut drink. The coconut was served as a whole coconut. It is a local fruit, not imported from Thailand or other states but from Raub itself. We were pleased that the coconuts were young and sweet. The juice was refreshing and the coconut fleshes were easy to scoop out using the spoon.

For our vegetable dish, we ordered the stir fried paku in garlic style. Normally we would have ordered it in the spicy sambal way, but that day we just feel like eating less spicy food. The stir fried paku in garlic was very good. The pake vegetable was very fresh, crunchy and not over stir fried. Some pake vegetable will taste a bit gluey, but not this one. Thumbs up for that. We enjoyed this simple dish very much.

The restaurant is actually famous for river fishes. They have different types of fishes with different prices. It is advisable to ask about the price per kilo before placing your order. We ordered the patin fish. I always love patin fish, as it is meaty and not funny smell. The fish was definitely fresh and even the skin was smooth. Love the simple soy sauce steamed fish, which brings out the natural flavors of all ingredients. The fish was kept warm with the burner below.
