Beef Cheese Burger. My dining partner ordered a lamb burger but he was served with beef burger instead since the waiter mentioned "Lamb Burger" for this. Without knowing it, he ate and noticed that it was not lamb (due to religious reason, he was not supposed to eat beef). We did not complain about it since we do not want to make a big fuss. However, I just felt that it was down right wrong to serve the wrong thing. I took over the beef burger and gave him my fish and chips instead. The beef burger was just normal and the patty was dry. I was very disappointed by this cafe. continue reading

continue reading

This place is really a great place to grab some nice food and also to enjoy their coffees. This is the cappuccino i ordered. The cappuccino was very aromatic. Really love the coffee taste lingering in the air. It was nicely presented. A nice artistic "drawing" on top of the froth. Cappuccino was smooth and frothy. The coffee here tasted slightly stronger, good for those caffeine hunger people. continue reading

in Yi at Damansara Uptown. Remember Coffee Ritual at Section 14? Those fine folks moved here this year, changing their name and taking over a cozy nook in a crowded neighborhood. Burgers are the specialty here now, with a variety wide enough to leave indecisive customers in despair. We enjoyed the meaty BBQ mutton burger topped with Edam cheese in a wholemeal artisan-baked bun, but others might choose a different cheese _ cheddar, gouda and emmental are available _ or top their burgers with beef bacon, mushrooms or pineapples. Sumatran and Costa Rican single-origin coffees, brewed with siphon coffee makers. Basic lattes, espressos and mochas are also offered, all pretty much satisfactory. It's a nice hangout, calm, relaxed and welcoming. Worth checking out if you're in the area.Note: Jin Yi is a pork-free eatery. continue reading

After our usual badminton session, we were looking for lunch and a friend recommended Jin Yi at Uptown. He said the coffee was good, but never tried meals there before.Turns out the menu was full of burgers, which gives us an impression that their burgers were good. The mushroom soup arrived first, as the appetizer. It was normal, nothing special but at least not the Campbell's type. The drinks came next. As they were famous with their coffee, we ordered latte. It was sugarless! Everybody had to request for extra syrup for their latte to have some taste in it. There was a strong coffee smell, but it was quite a letdown that no sugar was added at all.Cappuccino was decent, at least. Nice touch to the presentation.Beef burgers were first to arrive, starting with the cheese burgers. As you can see, it comes with chips, pickles, and some vegetables. The burger was juicy and you could tell it was fresh patties. However, it was not worth the price of RM25 per set (inclusive of a drink). The mushroom cheeseburgers were next. It taste exactly like the cheeseburgers, but added with mushrooms. There wasn't much smell or taste from the mushroom, but it wasn't bad either.Mutton burger was OK, but too as juicy as the beef burgers.Chicken burger was a little dry, but not too bad as well.Fish and chips came last. Nothing much to shout about actually. The waiter made a mistake when serving the burgers, when he accidentally told us that the burger was mutton instead of beef. My friend was happily eating the burger when another mutton burger arrived, and the waiter told us that the burger my friend was eating was a beef burger. My friend does not consume beef due to his religion, so you could imagine the shock on his face. In the end he settled for the chicken burger, given to him from another friend.Apart from the mistake, service was generally slow and their coffee wasn't top notch. For a price of RM25+, this will not be a place we will visit in the future. continue reading
