Goh Teo Kee is a Chinese Restaurant that serves great authentic Teochew cuisine. It is located at Persiaran Gurney, Georgetown. Golden Deep-fried Teochew TofuThis Teochew style tofu is deep-fried till golden and crispy. The tofu is still soft inside. It is served with light oyster sauce and sprinkled with deep-fried onions. Tucked along the housing estates at Bayan Lepas, Goh Teow Kee is the restaurant which is worth for visiting for a Teow Chew dishes. The restaurant itslf probably is one of the famous Teowchew restaurants in Penang and at their restaurant, they had also published some of the artist and politician visiting them which include MYFM DJ Ngan Mei Yan, and also the Chief Minister of Penang – Mr Lim Guan Eng. It has been a long time since I visited the restaurant which is nearly 8 years back. The restaurant brings the combination of Thai and Nyonya elements with it.We are recommended with their famous Curry Kapitan Spare ribs. The braised spare ribs are being simmered in a very unique curry by using the specially selected ingredients prepared in “Nyonya & Baba’s Style”. The curry is simply thick with the succulent meat together with it.Price: RM 13-RM 26House Plum Sauce Chicken brings us with the deliciously made taste. The marinated boneless chicken thigh is being deep fried till golden brown and then it is being accompanied with the homemade plum sauce together. We ordered the 8 course dinner which cost RM698+ for 10 pax excluding drinks. Total we pay RM768 for whole dinner, kind of expensive for Penang price.Dried Scallop Seafood Shark Fin SoupThis dish should be served third but the waitress messed up with all table's dishes. Luckily, dad did bring the leaflet they gave that day and we checked out they miss out our shark fin soup. Normal shark fin soup, nothing to shout about. I did bite a lot of shark fin, real or not, I'm not sure.Stewed Pork Ribs with Chetnut and Soya SkinThis dish was not bad actually. I did not see any pork rib inside but small pieces of pork meat. The meat was soft and easy to chew especially for my grandmother. It taste quite nice too but not warm when served.Luxury Four Season(King Prawn, Soft Shell Crab, Japanese Octopus, Assorted Nut)I like this dish a lot especially the Japanese Octopus (my favourite).
