OpenRice is Asia’s No. 1 dining guide where food enthusiasts come together to share quality and honest food reviews all over Malaysia.

  1. What kind of restaurants can I find on OpenRice?

You can find any food outlet from your favourite burger stalls to fancy restaurants and everything in between. From fine dining to street food, you can find it all on OpenRice!

  1. What if my favourite restaurant is not listed?

During our search, we may have missed out the restaurants or it may not have been open at the time. We are constantly looking to update our database. If you have the information of a restaurant that isn’t already listed in our site, we encourage you to submit this information at this page.

  1. What if I found some information that is not accurate?

Due to the large volume of listings that we have, we may have missed out some information or made some minor mistakes. If you know any information to be inaccurate, we encourage you to submit the correct information at this page.

  1. Why do you have restaurants in the Klang Valley only?

We are planning to open up more regions in the near future, and eventually cover the whole of Malaysia. Meanwhile, we are also adding new restaurants to the listing for the Klang Valley.

  1. Where do I report to should I find the photos, name and address of the restaurant to be incorrect?

You can gather all your findings and send to us via email to our Customer Care at cs@openrice.com.my.

  1. How do I search for food?

There are currently 2 options available to search for food. You may insert the name, address, dish or cuisine on the search box for direct results.

  1. What are the benefits for signing up as an OpenRice member?

Signed up as a OpenRice member so that you can receive latest updates about promotions and activities from OpenRice. Besides that, you can have your own profile page where we have a foot print feature shown which restaurant you visited before, how many reviews you wrote. You can communicate with other OpenRicer by leaving them a message on their wall and leave a comment in members review.

  1. Why I can’t login to OpenRice account with the Facebook Connect function?

There are 2 reasons why you can’t login to the OpenRice account with the Facebook Connect. You will have to first register as an OpenRice member and confirm the registration before you can use the Facebook Connect for future OpenRice logins. Another reason is probably due to a firewall setting which prohibits the usage of Facebook or anything alike to connect with social channels.

 

Food reviews
  1. What is a food review?

A food review is a comment about the food which an OpenRice member (also known as an Openricer) has written based on their own personal dining experience. The review can be about a desirable or less-than-desirable experience at a restaurant.

  1. How do I write a food review?

You are encouraged to write at least 50 words and upload 1 relevant photo, so that it is useful to other readers. Your review should describe of the food, but can also describe the service, ambience, and any other opinion you want to share about your dining experience.

  1. Are there any rules that apply to writing a food review?

Yes, your food reviews may be rejected due to (but not limited to) the following reasons:


  • Foul language and/or obscene images
  • Advertising and promotional messages
  • Sexual, illegal, or violent content and/or images
  • Insulting, defamatory, and/or misleading content
  • Copyrighted material
  • Spamming

If you did not enjoy the dining experience, we encourage you to focus on the food and be constructive with your review.

  1. I have written a review. Why do I not see it on Openrice?

Each review is subject to an approval process. It will typically take between a few hours and 2 days before your review is approved or rejected. You will receive an e-mail notification either way.

  1. I have submitted a food review but it was rejected. What do I do now?

You can either edit and re-submit the review, or you can just write another review from scratch.

  1. If I am not registered as a member, can I still submit for a food review?

Yes you can still submit a food review by signing in as a non-member, all you need to do is enter a Nickname and press Go!

  1. Can I submit reviews outside the Klang Valley?

Not for now, we will be expending our food database soon to other states, you can then submit your food reviews.

  1. Can I write the reviews in Chinese?

No, all reviews must be written in English only.

 

Customer Care
  1. How long does it take for the new restaurant submission to be approved?

For every new restaurant submission, it will take a maximum of 2 days to be approved and you will be notified via email.

  1. Will you be expending your restaurant lists to Penang, Johor and East Malaysia?

Penang, Johor & East Malaysia is part of our upcoming plans. We are expending our food database throughout the country in stages.

  1. How do I find out the total qualify food review I have before I can start to redeem my rewards?

Our Customer Service will send you an individual email to inform you off the total approved quality food reviews on a weekly basis throughout the duration of the Makan & Share Rewards Program.

  1. How do I add a new restaurant if the district is not in the list? Example: OUG

If you are unable to find the restaurant info, you may submit a new restaurant request, we will then check and add it for you manually to our system.

  1. I spotted a mistake on my review but I have already submitted it, is it still possible for me to revise my review?

You can always send us an email at cs@openrice.com.my to request an amendment and send your original reference to us so that we can edit it for you.

  1. What should I do if I found duplication of the data?

You may email the details to our Customer Service at cs@openrice.com.my and we will do the correction accordingly.

  1. What if I want to upload more than 8 photos in a review?

Only a maximum of 8 photos can be uploaded per review. If it is multiple visits, you can submit them as per separate reviews. Reviews are on a per-visit basis.

 

Contests and Campaigns
  1. What are the terms and conditions of your contests and campaigns?

The terms and conditions will vary from campaign to campaign, and will be stated in the campaign page. We reserve the right to amend the terms and conditions from time to time without prior notice.

  1. How do you ensure fairness in your lucky draw contests?

We use a public third-party draw system where all participants will be given access to the draw results, which are conducted by a third-party system. Therefore, no party (including OpenRice or the system owners) will have any control over the results of such draws.
