Initially, I wanted to bring my parents to Elephant Bay Thai Restaurant in Kuchai Lama but we could not find the restaurant though we searched all over for it. Finally, I decided to go to a Thai Kopitiam called Samet Thai, which sells Thai Food at a most affordable price. Another great thing is original in that all the food is cooked by Thai chefs and there are thai waitresses too. So it was like going to Thailand minus the air ticket. Can you imagine a small wok of Seafood Tom Yam costing only
Can you imagine a small wok of Seafood Tom Yam costing only RM 12.90? The seafood of octopus, prawns and also flower mushrooms were swimming around the pot. The soup is not as red as our normal Malaysian tom yam. I have to admit that the prawns here are not fresh at all.
The Asparagus with Prawns (RM 14.90) was even more expensive than the tom yam which has so many ingredients. But I liked the fact that the asparagus was so crunchy and fresh.
The Lemon Steamed Fish was also so delicious and it cost merely RM 35.90. The flesh was so juicy and soft, just the way we like steamed fish to be. The soup was more sour than the tom yam!
The last dish we had is the Pineapple Fried Rice which was so fragrant, yellow and simply amazing. There were pineapple chunks, octopus, cashewnuts, prawns, carrots etc. I dare say that I have never tasted any other pineapple rice that beats this one and this costs less than RM 20!
Unfortunately, the waitress forgot my other lemongrass drink and only served dad and mum. Anyway, not much complaint other than that. I came out of it as a very satisfied customer.
