For my birthday, a friend decided to treat me to a nice buffet lunch because we'd get to eat all that we want for the same price. We decided on Zipangu because it has gotten raved reviews for it's quality and Japanese food which is something we really enjoy. So it wasn't really a surprise that the place was quite filled with people considering that we went on the weekend. There were several families and also many other tables occupied but we got a nice quiet corner by the window. I gotta say that the staff are very friendly and accomodating because they led us to the quiet corner which I had requested for. They were also very attentive whenever we requested for some green tea or anything else. Service is a definite plus. As for the choices of food however, there is the selection of salads and then there were also the standard Japanese fare such as assorted sushi that were continuously made to fill up any empty platters. There was also a large corner for the seafood where it is pretty much available at most buffets. The seafood looked fresh and the two chefs behind the bar were working constantly to slice up the sashimi to make sure that the serving platters were always filled. Everything was very good that I had several helpings of them all. All of the oysters were rather large in size, so were the prawns which I ate many rounds of.The dessert corner was my friend's favourite because there were many kinds - assorted cakes and pastries gallore. Since I prefer the savoury food, I did not really indulge in any dessert. However, apparently they were all only so-so according to my sweet expert friend. Although I really enjoyed the buffet spread, this isn't a place that we'd return to if it were not for a sepcial occasion because of the rather steep price tag. Though I guess it is kind of worth it if you're a big eater and indulge in most of the seafood.  continue reading

Zipangu is famous for its Japenese buffet, served quality seafood and sahimi. The succulent juicy oyster are fresh and you will be walloping one by one into the mouth if you are an oyster lover. Much of variety and love the fresh prawn too. Sashimi is sweet and nice, love its Salmon. You cant find a lot if fancy sushi roll, but you will get lots and lots of mouthwatering desserts. Give this a YES! continue reading

Definitely one of KL's most alluring Japanese restaurants. The sashimi seemed super-fresh, though the selection was run-of-the-mill. Marinated crab organs with shredded crab meat. Can't go wrong with most of the seafood here; the crab tasted like it might have been in the ocean only hours before this. Pot-au-feu with pan-fried foie gras, eel & winter melon. A perennial favorite; too bad the portion seems much punier than what it used to be several years ago. Braised beef. Not as tender as it could have been, but recommended for anybody who enjoys chunky slabs of beef with some bite in them. Chinese Chardonnay. Prefer the usual European, U.S. and Aussie wines. continue reading

tempuraThis is the tempura vegetables. This tempura vegetables consists of brinjal, lady fingers and mixed vegetables.I like the brinjal very much. The brinjal is so fresh and soft. The batter of the tempura is quite thick and crispy. The whole brinjal is fully covered by the batter and fried to a perfect crispyness. The lady fingers i not really like it.Maybe it's because i don't really like lady fingers. continue reading

One of the items in the lunch buffet is the Mango Pudding. The pudding is really smooth and so rich with mango taste. It was served in a wine glass and decorated with chocolate ganache which is crispy. There was a milky texture and the sweetness is really natural from the fruit. Since it is also light, I could finish 2 glasses without feeling heavy, this is one of the best pudding I tasted. Highly recommended. continue reading
