One dish that is worth recommending only to resident within 1km radius here. Anyone further than this distance should just eat anywhere else and don’t bother coming all the way just for this. Cause you easily get similar satisfaction anywhere else. The char siew was finely honey-glazed and luscious. Besides, other shops normally sliced the char siew so thin you can see through the meats. Here, they are very generous with the char siew. If you have to eat here, this is what you should order. It comes with standard dumpling soup because it wouldn’t be wanton noodle if they don’t serve dumpling at all. continue reading

Prawn Dumplings. On top of the wantan mee, we ordered an extra bowl of prawn dumpling (har gao). It came in a bowl of soup together with some vegetables. The skin was thin and translucent. The fillings were clearly shown across the skin. It was not too salty and the texture was so-so. The dumpling actually does not taste that good, it was a normal dumpling and nothing to shout about. continue reading

Came by to take away lunch after a gym session. Facing the LDP, this corner restaurant is easily seen from the highway. It did not take long for the hawker to prepare my food, even though it looked like that were many people who ordered from this stall. After getting my packet of wan tan mee, I went straight home to empty both packets of noodles and soup out to the dish as I was quite hungry. The noodles for the wan tan mee is very well cooked. It is very springy and well flavoured. Instead of only cha siew, I have also requested for siew yuk to be included into the dish as well. The cha siew was quite dry, although it has a nice caramelized flavour to it. The siew yuk was decent at best for me. It was not crispy enough although it was a strong siew yuk flavour to it.The wantan was the best in my opinion, as unlike most other wantan served in KL, this one actually has some minced meat inside, instead of just wantan skin. This dish is actually quite nice, thanks to its wantan and its delicious al-dente noodles. continue reading

Restoran Yat Yeh Hing has this famous stall selling steam chicken. They also sell the roasted chicken, but i usually skip that. The best is the steam chicken. The steam chicken here is better than many places. Service could be poor due to popularity and lack of manpower. The chicken does not feel fatty or oily. In fact, the skin was blanched to silky smooth and the meat is tender and flavourful. The chicken meat does not taste tough. The sauce for the chicken was fragrant with the chicken fats and soy sauce. Some garlic oil added and the chicken taste great. I also skipped their rice because i think their rice is not fluffy. continue reading
