continue reading

From:Sydney choo continue reading

Checked out Udon-Ya San again some weeks ago. Here's my review. Better late than never!I tried the Tsukimi Udon and the Chicken Karaage, this time with a cucumber drink. The prices are still reasonable ranging from RM6 to RM12 per dish depending on what you order. The signature homemade Udon was chewy, just how I preferred it.  The udon was mixed in a sesame infused tangy sauce.  I quite liked it as it was not too heavy and it went pretty well with the fresh vegetables in the udon.  The karaage was as expected. It was deepfried without tasting too oily. A good complement as a side dish. The cucumber drink was pretty refreshing too!I had also ordered the salad and this time I asked the chef to put the dressing on the side which he willingly obliged. So I added the amount of dressing I liked and the salad turned out to be crispy and yet not overwhelmed by the dressing.  Yummy!I understand from the proprietors that they are constantly creating new dishes.  So, the next time I walk pass their Noren (Japanese door hanging), I hope I will be preasantly surprised! Cook on! continue reading

I personally like to eat udon. Now that both my sons also love to eat udon, we decided that Udon-ya San is the best place for us. The food is wonderful and their price are very reasonable. It's not easy to find a restaurant that make their own udon. A must try. continue reading

Udon-Ya San Homemade Noodle House is located at Pandan Indahand opposite Old Town White Coffee. I heard that their homemade udon offered isat very reasonable price too.The noodle is made by the chef, Chef Anson Leong. The menu offered was simple and easy to choose since pictures provided on it.Tsukimi Udon RM7Homemade udon by Chef Anson Leong, topped with seaweed (my favorite!), tempura flakes, chopped spring onion, poached egg and served with hot soup. The udon itself was very spongy, and best to serve with hot bonito soup. It was served with some chili paste to add spiciness in it. *recommended*Mentaiko Udon RM14Homemade udon served with generous amount of mentaiko, seaweed and sliced cucumber. Each strand of udon was coated with mentaiko, seaweed andcreamy sauce. The sound ‘pop’ can be heard once eat it. The manager told us that they used high quality of mentaiko in it. *recommended*Carbonara Udon RM9The carbonara sauce itself was very flavorful, not toocheesy, and work perfectly with the homemade udon mixed with juicyand flavorful pork slices (pancetta).A little combination of western and Japanese cuisine.I love to eat carbonara spaghetti, and I definitely love this too!! *recommended*Salad Udon RM8What’s so unique about it? The udon + salad. It was my first time to try it. The udon was immersed into cold water before served. It topped with slices of cucumber, white radish, tomato, seaweed, lettuce and served with Japanese roasted sesame dressing (one of my favorites sauces!). Then, mixed everything together and start to nom nom it. Kakiage RM3Deep fried onion with assorted vegetables. It tasted sweet (because of ONION) and best to eat when it was hot to maintain the crispiness in it. Surprisingly, it was just RM3, I thought it would cost more than that. And the most important thing is, it was not too oily!! *recommended*Assorted Vegetables Tempura RM4Deep fried assorted vegetables tempura served with dipping sauce and white radish. It will never taste better if didn’t dip it into the sauce.Ajitama RM2It was boiled to perfection with certain degrees (physics theory applied!). The running egg yolk can be seen once it was cut into half.Tonkatsu RM6Juicy meat coated with breadcrumb and served with BBQ sauce (upgraded version). Another snack not to be missed.Passion Fruit + Plum RM5It tasted sweet and sour, best to serve when it was cold.Lemon Grass + Lemon RM5Thank you for having us here.******************************Website | Facebook | MapAddress: 65 Jalan Pandan Indah 4/3A, Pandan Indah, 55100 Kuala LumpurBusiness Hours: 11AM-3PM & 6PM-10PM (closed on Friday)Phone: 011 1310 4182Coordinate: 3.131112, 101.754433****************************** Ohh yea!
