My best friend from Penang just called me for a catch-up so I was thinking where else around SS2 area would be an ideal place. I did not feel like going to a shopping mall as I wanted to avoid the weekend jam. So I was like perhaps we could go to Happy Mansion where there were some quite quaint cafes around. Then as I attempted to drive to that area, I got lost. But getting lost is good as it helped me discover a new area where I have found Touche Pastries and Bakery. The moment we both entered this place and we saw the mouth-watering cakes, pastries and bread, our saliva was dropping, literally! We noticed that the breakfast menu was amazingly tantalizing. As a crepe lover, I wanted to order the crepe but did not do it as it was not unavailable. I also saw some people ordering the black sesame burgers but I did not do it because I have had McD twice last week as I was collecting the Hello Kitty dolls. Anyway, in the end, I have decided that we both share the Mixed Grill which was priced quite reasonably at only RM 24.90 which came with grilled dory fish, chicken, mashed potatoes, carrots and broccoli. The mashed potatoes looked very much like homemade ones, as the potato was not smooth and still had the chunks of potato inside. The carrot was just nice. The best part was the herbal rosemary sauce, where I almost felt like I wanted to finish every drop of the sauce. The cappuccino (RM 8) was quite ok but it did not meet my expectation of being served with a nicely designed froth like a heart or leaf shape. Since the mixed grill did not come in a very big portion, we ordered the Passionfruit Peach tart which was very crispy. The crisp was one I have always looked for in tarts. The passionfruit juice was flowing over the tart and the sourish taste was fabulous. I actually exchanged the Dark Cherry tart for the passionfruit tart because the cherry tart was a tad too dry and the cherry was too little to make the price worthwhile. Of course, I could not leave the place without tasting the awesome cakes. The sight of the cakes and tarts is a feast for the eyes. The Chocolate Noir was an excellent choice. There was a special biscuit underneath that was not hard and somehow it was a very special kind. As my mouth sinked into the smooth chocolate, it was like I was brought to heaven. The dark chocolate piece on top was even more amazing. The price of RM 10.90 was well worth it. We are definitely coming back for the cakes. desserts and even main meals. This is the greatest place to chat and catch up with BFFs without the traffic jam stress. continue reading

Still have some space left in my stomach, I was comtemplating to order either a cup of coffee or try one of their pastries. Not wanting to over stuff myself, I settled with a cup of cafe latte. It's cafe latte is one of the better ones I've tasted recently. It's milky foam is not too thick and reaches the coffee fast. It's very strong of coffee taste although the amount of cream/milk was also as much. Overall, it's a satisfying drink. continue reading

Touche Pastries at PJ's Section 17Touche, a reasonably welcoming hangout, operates on the now-crowded row that also houses The Gastro Project & Little Heritage House.Warm meals here include sandwiches like a smoked duck one with cucumber & hoisin sauce, evocative of Peking Duck in flavor. Scones, croissants, danishes & other archetypal bakery fare are available. Won't revolutionize the industry, but should satisfy the stomach. continue reading
