Now in case you are wondering what else is served here other than the famous banana leaf rice, there is assorted cakes and light bites on a table and customers normally pick their choices and help themselves with it seeing how the waiters took such a long time to attend to them. Hmm…to think of it now, that must have been the strategy for them to make more money. People get restless after a long wait and they’ll eventually help themselves with the many choices of snacks and light bites.A...

favourite to go with the banana leaf rice is the pavakka. Mini bittergourd sliced thinly and deep fried with chili flour. It was somewhat slightly spicy, and bitterly sweet from the bitter gourd.Like most Indian restaurants, the fried chicken, fish, sotong, or fish roe (seasonal) are instantly frying at the main entrance instead of the kitchen. In another words, the open kitchen just for the fried stuff alone is usually in front, right next to the array of marinated poultries and seafood. ...

The Indian cuisine is one of the few fascinating ones where they use a lot of nuts, roots and leaves in there cooking. If you go to an authentic Indian restaurant, a common serving on most tables would be thebanana leaf rice. It is basically just white rice, with some dishes, normally 3-4 vegetable dishes, and lots of curry gravy drenched all over the rice, served on the banana leaf instead of a plate. The best thing about the banana leaf rice is that it is a free flow. So it is all you ca...

Hubby and I are also fans of their fried fish. When we see the waiter holding a metal tray on top of his head approaching, we would stop him to get a piece of the fried fish. The fish is marinated with some curry paste before being deep-fried, and the result is a curry flavoured piece of delectable, flaky piece of fish. There were also no fishy smell, definitely thumbs-up!

Hubby will always order the fried chicken as part of his banana leaf rice meal. I was more than willing to share it with him. We would normally order the drumstick / thigh part, and the portion is quite big. I would get the drumstick bit, while hubby chews on the thigh. The chicken is fried well, and the insides are well cooked, which is a good thing as some restaurant serves not fully cooked chicken drumsticks. Slightly salty due to the marinade, it is best eaten together with the curry ...

As an accompaniment to my banana leaf rice, some fried bittergourd is a must. I would normally not take bittergourd, but this fried version definitely did not have any bitterness at all. The bittergourd is dipped in light batter before being fried to golden perfection. It is served on a small plate, and I would usually require at least two servings of this. Crunchy and delectable, it was well worth the money (and calories). A word to the wise, best try to flick out the seeds inside the bi...

I will always order the mutton masala when I have my banana leaf rice. The waiter will bring a tray of items and I will normally select this. The aromatic herbs cooked with the mutton brings out the best in the meat. The mutton is cut up in bite-sized pieces, with hardly any bones, except for a piece or two. Beware that it can be quite spicy, but the feeling of tongue numbness is definitely worth it as the dish is really top class!

Whenever I feel like having a mound of rice, banana leaf rice is the solution. In Restoran Sri Paandi, once you are seated down, and asks for banana leaf rice, the first thing they will do is to place a banana leaf in front of you. Then, chaos will come in forms of many waiters placing rice, vegetables, curry, papadam on the banan leaf. They would usually have about four types of vegetables at one time. The ones I had was the sliced cucumbers with onions, some sort of stewed squash, so...

This place is good for authentic Indian banana leaf rice. First experience was an interesting one, once you sit, few people coming with banana leaf, vege, curry, soup, different meat dishes to serve you as if you were the guest of honor – it’s really was a nice feeling. The meat dishes are about RM5 per dish so for those who like variety, don’t get carried away. The dried curry chicken is pretty good. I like the rasam soup, which clears your throat after the meal. A friend likes ...

Whee Bottomless is always catch my attention. Rice is my all time favourites. So when bottomless rice comes together. I will definitely go for it. Normally banana leaf rice can offers your bottomless rice. After you finish, then you can ask them add more for you. The fish curry at here is quite normal but the chicken curry is quite a blast. It brings out a little bit spicy that can brings out your appetite. Then when you eat with fried chicken, if you can still eat it, you will keep ea...
