This was my first time ever enjoy my indian food with the traditional way - eat with your hands! So I've been missing for Indian food for like weeks and finally came here to fix it. Well, I would say the staffs are friendly, lively and very generous. I ordered banana leaf with a masala tea, I couldn't tell the staff which sauce I would like to put, so he left all 3 curry choices on our table. Perhaps he can tell that I really like papadom, so he gave me more pieces. And the masala tea was freaking awesome! As for the fried bitter gourd, I'm disappointed as that was not what I preferred. Personally I preferred those with thin slices and deep fried (I know it doesn't sound so healthy but that's the way it is). The bitter gourd here are thick and not crispy. Also we've ordered varuval chicken, as according to my friend, their varuval doesn't taste nice too. continue reading

overall I am satisfied with the food, but the rice and all the curry sauce and fried chicken are not served in hot. I requested to heat up the fried Chicken, it's take me more than 15 min. The price are reasonable continue reading

I am seriously getting excited while composing this. Let me start off with something negative, it cost us Rm 31.70 for the entire meal with 2 Teh Ais included.FIrst time eating on table, not literally, but with a layer of aromatic banana leaf to serve it. Seriouslly, I don't find it any different eating on banana leaf or plate. But there is one moment, I accidentally poke the leaf, and a smell like mint, pleasantly waft into my nose.Serving with 4 vegetarian dishes including yogurt cucumber salad, cabbage, koottu, and okra (lady's finger). Fried crackers knwon as Pa padum, and fried chicken (choose between fish or chicken) in huge portion. This is for what Banana Leaf Rice, we also ordered Rasem and Moru (in Tamil) aka Lassi. Generally, all the dishes are heavily flavourful, it was not only tantalizing your taste bud, but your 5 senses. But none of this dishes are super spicy, so I can still go on with it, but teh ais is sickly sweet, recommend not to order sweet drink when you go with this, because it make me full at the half way of eating. Would rather drink plain water to pair with it, since I have rasem and moru already. The moru is enchancing the appetite as ti taste sour, but rasem also sour what. The rasem unlike the typical one (where you can see through the bottom of the soup), the rasem here is thick, taste nice, but still prefer the typical one.Eating in open air can be quite irritating, luckily there are air-conditional room to fit their patrons. Verdict:This restoran is quite desolate, but it's easily available on any road navigation apps. Damage RM 31.70 for this tantalizing gastronomical experience, their portion is huge it last 5 hours for me. Would still coming once in every blue moon! continue reading

I visited Paandi quite frequently in past 2 years. They offer a lot of indian food here, Banana Leaf Rice, Thosai, Roti Cani, Appam and so on.Banana Leaf Rice:served with 3 or 4 kinds of veges and papadom.Sometimes the veges served really taste very good, but sometimes the veges are salty or taste weird for me. The waiter always expect customer to order chicken or fish when they order banana leaf rice, I can see the waiter dislike customer who don't. But anyway, customers are always right.  Anyway, their fried chicken are undeniably good and the portion of a chicken is quite big, somewhere in between quarter to 1/16. Banana Leaf Rice : RM 5.50Chicken : RM 5Fish : DependsRoti Canai and Thosai:for me, the roti canai and thosai are not special but overpriced. Give it a try and you will know you like it or not~  continue reading

This is my latest update of my makan trip to one of my favourite banana leaf rice restaurant in town. Although the food served here is still tasty, real authentic Chettinah dishes, I was taken by surprise with the price increase on my recent visit. Now, the basic vegetarian meal set costs RM 5.00 with an increase of 50 cents. You guys must be thinking that it's still okay as compared to many others places. The worst has yet to come. They got greedy as I think business getting too good for them, they started to charge for extra toppings or add ons of any vegetables dishes. The same goes for rice too! Good gracious me! You see, the RM 5.00 set now ONLY comes with 1 extra topping of rice & 2 toppings of any vegetables. Subsequent 'tambah nasi or sayur' comes with a charge of RM 1.00 onwards. Be careful with the papadoms too, I was charged additional RM 1 for asking for more papadoms! Besides that, the tairu or yoghurt are not longer part of the set as they are charging RM 1.50 per bowl.Well, as far as I know (from this terrible experience) the only thing that have no extra charge are the curry fish, curry chicken or dhall gravies. I'm still quite mad with the whole new pricing. Boycotting Sri Paandi for the time being and I'm on a serious look out and hunt for another 'tasty & cheap' Chettinad restaurant to satisfy my cravings for Indian food.Lilly HongEditor of Follow Me To Eat La - http://followmetoeatla.blogspot.com continue reading
